I finished them!

629 + 754. Pages. That is how many I have read in the last 10 days, as I finally finished Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. They are very big books, but easy to read, so it really sounds like a lot more than it is. I am really surprised that the series had a a happy ending, as I wasn't really expecting it. And Stephanie Meier could go on and on with could have another whole series as it has been left extremely open-ended. I will look forward to seeing what happens!

I have managed to fill every single evening reading, and I actually finished Breaking Dawn on Wednesday night at exactly midnight. Stayed up way too late, but I just had to read what was going to happen. Like I already mentioned, I was surprised about how it actually ended, as I wasn't really expecting it.

I managed to get to two sofball games this week and supported some six year olds who I love. I got to a Summer Kids Club meeting on Tuesday and went walking on Wednesday night, and here it is, Friday, already. I have a meeting tonight too, so I have some paperwork to get ready for that. I went to visit Baby on my way home from softball last night and his welcoming squeal of delight was so adorable. He is learning new things every day and was pleased to show me he knows how to blow now.......and when his mom blows bubbles, he can say Pop. It actually comes out more like Pip, but it is so cute. He was fascinated with the moon and can say the mmmmmm part and then then makes an O with his lips. He is just so fun!! I am looking very foward to the weekend. Sunny days are here again!!!

It's over......

.......and I am kinda sad about that. I love my Roots of Empathy class, and we finished off our Theme 9 this week. The baby celebration was on Monday, and our baby wasn't really very happy that day. The children decided that she was sad because she knew she was finished. They were a great bunch of kids. I really enjoyed my year with them........and am looking forward to doing it again next year. My mentor visit went well, and I also received my official certification. The children were expected to give feedback to Head Office and here are some of the things that they wrote. The most important thing I learned in Roots of Empathy was........
:never shak a babey. Never giv a babey small stuff.
:don't throw a baby out the window.
:I leaened that babys have lots of feelings.
:she loved cuppcakes.
:that never shak a baby. that you shold keep your nose clean.
:how the babys feel. how babys are more important than us. and there more delocit.
:not to shake or drop a baby
:babys have lots and lots of fellings. Just like us.
:that babys need lots of love

Oh......they make me laugh......and I am really gonna miss them!!!!!

Growing up so fast!

He loves to sit on the chair and go spinning around and around. Grandpa makes a game out of it and he thinks it is very fun! When we babysat him on Sunday, he and his Grandpa had lots of fun playing. I think Baby has figured out that his Grandpa is a very good playmate, and his Grandma is his caregiver. I do all the work and he gets all the glory. Nothing has really changed over the last 30 years, has it?

I love his form! He is always making me laugh!

Okay, that's a little better......well, a lot better! I think I could watch him play all day. He is a very good independent player! Busys himself very well on his own.......and always likes to make sure that we are close-by. Not a wanderer.......and that is very, very nice!

Week 2, Day 1

Well, it's going better than it was. But that's not really saying much. I have done extremely well on my cleanse for the last two days. Friday was a good day too, but Saturday.....not so much. I went to a bridal shower with the intention of only eating fruits and veggies. But there was way too much good stuff and I weakened with the chocolate of all things. Epicure has a recipe for a chocolate cheeseball, and it is simply divine. I had some.......and totally blew one day out of four. That doesn't sound terribly bad, but if you add up the three first days, then I blew four days out of seven. Not good, I will definitely do better this week.

It's raining today. It's been soooooo beautiful for the past week that I guess we need the rain, but I sure like the sun better. It makes for such happy dispositions........and that just makes for easier days for me. LOL

Baby came over on Sunday and we babysat him for a few hours while his mom went to a memorial service and his dad went to play baseball. It was very fun and we had a good afternoon. Miracle #3 phoned at six though, wondering how come he was still sleeping after two hours. Asked what we did to wear him out......not really much......he had a nap, ate lunch and he played. Not really much different than he usually does. I love all his babbling. He is always chatting away, not really saying words, but always telling us something. He says 'Baby' really well now and 'Beep Beep.' And he uses them both in the correct context. The daycare children brought out every doll in my house yesterday and he was overwhelmed by the 15 or more dolls that they gave him. He loves coming to Daycare as he just loves interacting with all of the children. They love him too, so it tends to be a win-win for everyone!

Funny Faces

This was when he was 12 months....

....and this is his new one, taken yesterday. He makes me laugh!!

Playing at Grandma and Grandpa's

As soon as he comes outside, he just loves to go into the garage to get toys.

He's coming to chase the ball that he has tossed down the driveway.

Oh, there it is!

But it's way more fun to participate in the game that is already in progress. Look at his little pointer's like he is asking, "One more?"

Oh, the ball went that way!

It's been good week!

This is my 6:30 wake-up call. His parents have asked me to help out for a couple of months, and I have enjoyed it so much. We were talking about Facebook and blogging so when I asked him if he would like to be in my blog, he thought that would he fun. He was in the process of beating me 10-0 at Air Hockey!

We have had a really good week at Daycare. This is one afternoon, and they spent almost an hour looking through this 'Search and Find' book.

And yesterday, we spent the whole day outside. These two little boys would play hockey ALL day long if we could. Their little sidekick just likes to watch and throw his own little ball around. At almost 14 months, he is still very cautious and likes to observe.

Week 1 and the bedding plants are doing really well, so far!

When I went to my meeting this week, this is the poster that was up across the hall from the front office. When I took a picture of it, the secretary told me that they had just received new ones and I could have this one if I wanted. Well, I wanted! This is the first time I have ever seen it with the orange background and I just love it! Baby thought it was funny too, he kept smiling and poking her eye. His mommy was only 14 when she did this.......and when the BC government bought it out in 2000, she ended up making a fair amount of money with this one photo shoot!

Week 1, Day 4

I am on a cleanse. And I have slipped up a few times. Two days in a row. #3 had made grilled cheese sandwiches on Wednesday for lunch and they looked so good, I just automatically picked up a quarter of a sandwich and took a bite. Oh dear. So when I put corn in my turkey soup that evening, I didn't even pick it out. Figured I had already blown it and what was a few pieces of corn anyway. Then yesterday, my friend popped by and brought me a coffee. Well, it smelled so good and I didn't want to be rude, so I drank it. I am weak......what can I say?! If you count Day 1 when I nursed a smoothie for almost two hours, (you are supposed to drink them within a half hour for the best results) I guess you could say that I screwed up the first day too. So I am batting a thousand! All I can do is better! It's a Medi-clear cleanse and it is so easy, really. All I have to give up is caffeine, sugar, wheat, eggs, corn, tomatoes and dairy. We drink two smoothies a day to supplement and de-toxify. It's not very hard because I don't have to starve and I don't really eat much of that anyway. Or so I thought. I do love tomatoes, but that is usually my only weakness. Hasn't been a problem yet, just caffeine, dairy, corn and wheat. I have had over half of the forbidden foods and I am not even half-way through the week. Hubby has done wonderfully. This is our second cleanse we have done and he is much more disciplined. I think he wants to do it more than me too. I mean, I want to, but I am more supporting him as he is the one with food issues. When he did this 2 years ago, it really helped his stomach and hasn't suffered nearly as much as he used to. The only food group that really bothers him now is eggs........and he can eat or drink most everything else in moderation. It was one of the best things he ever did for himself and we have been recommended to cleanse at least once a year........we missed a year, but we are back at it for the next two and half weeks. Wish me luck......I think I am going to need it!

He loves apples!

And he was so impressed when I cut a piece off, and then handed him a whole apple. We usually grate up pieces for him, but he has been doing so well with biting and chewing lately that I took a risk and let him go at it. He did really well, and mostly just grated pieces off with his bottom teeth. Sat on the big boy chair and tried so hard to be a big boy! It was very cute and he did fairly well on the apple. He LOVES apples, and pretty much every fruit and veggie. Calls every fruit an "apbmm" and it was very cute the other night when he picked up the 6 pound bag and in his very strained voice, still said Apbmm! For goodness sake, 6 pounds is more than a fifth of his body weight and I was quite surprised when he lifted it right to his chest!
I had fun yesterday. I spent the morning with teachers and principals at a local school and we had a great meeting about Roots of Empathy. It is such a great program and they have a really hard time getting new facilitators every year, one, because of the funding, and two, because of the time commitment. I am sad that I only have two more sessions and then I am done. It's a great program and I have had a lot of fun with it!

Doesn't it look like he is inquiring,"Another picture?" I followed him around the playroom/kitchen that morning, just trying to get him to look and to smile......and not drool. It was not meant to be, as he just wanted to play. I will be very, very happy when the molars come through, as he had more than a month where there was no bib on 24/7 and that was really nice for all of us. He is coming over to spend the day here, as his mom is subbing for me today. I have a ROE meeting in the morning, and then I have my class this afternoon. Wednesday is always a slow day at Daycare anyway, as not as many children are scheduled. That is changing in June, however, as I have two little boys starting......both for two days a week. One almost-three year old and one almost-four year old should be lots of fun!!

Me and my "oldest" friend!

I didn't!

Have a lazy Monday. I got up later than usual yesterday, and so when Hubby suggested that we go to Wal-mart, I wasn't even ready. We left the house at 10:30 and were home just after noon, but then it was lunchtime........and I still hadn't even put my turkey in the oven. The miracles came for dinner last night......we still hadn't really celebrated #2's birthday, so it was fun to get together. He and DIL had gone to Birch Bay for the weekend and managed to get stuck in a 3 hour border line-up, but they were only 10 minutes late for dinner. That's not too bad! They had a wonderful time in the States and the weather sure was perfect. Didn't start raining until mid-afternoon yesterday, and the rest of the weekend was sunny and warm!

It went by really fast.....the weekend, that is! I say that alot, don't I? Shopping....check. Banking....check. check. Well, two out of three isn't too bad, but I really do have to get on that. I had fun visiting and playing with Baby last night, and watching him interact with his aunts and uncles. It feels like I haven't seen him much since our cruise. After spending two whole days together, then I have to go through withdrawal when I see him every few days. He has a cold again, and so do I. Mine came over a week ago and it is just holding on and not letting go. I still have a scratchy throat, and I cough a little, but I just want it to be gone. More of an annoyance than anything else, but I have been eating and sleeping very well, so I can't blame it on that. Perhaps, it's just everything catching up with me. Baby has a runny nose and is coughing, but he is definitely on the mend now too. He is eating well again, wasn't doing so great at the beginning of last week. Sleeping.....well, that's a whole different story. He's not doing that very well again, but I think we can count on one hand how many times he has actually slept 10 hours straight. He is not a good soon as those molars come in, hopefully it will get better again. Better is waking up only once!! #3 is funny as she often will comment that she can't believe I did this four times. Oh, the naivete of youth!! (me, that is!) I truly wouldn't have it any other way!!

Lazy Sunday

I finished my seventh book in a month. I watched some tv, and even a movie later in the evening. It was a lazy day......for me, anyway. We did go to Costco and bought some bedding plants......Miracle #4 spent the entire afternoon, planting them. My garden has never looked this good!! I was looking at the stack of books that I have been reading and decided that I have very eclectic tastes in reading. And I go in stages, where I read, and then I don't, and then I do and then I don't. Months could go by before I pick a book up, and then I can read it in a day or two. I joined a book club a year ago and have probably made it to less than half of the meetings. As much as I like the social part, I don't know if I really like the book choices. I have been wooed back with The Forgotten Garden and I am hoping to get back into it. Apparently, if I stayed in the country more, then I could get to Book Club more often. I also have started Eclipse of the Twilight series and even though the books are over 500 pages, I find that the writing is intended for teenagers, so I manage to read them rather quickly when I actually start them. I do love to read.......and I really do prefer it over television. I wonder how lazy I can make my Monday......

47 years later.....

Beautiful family, dancing

........two little girls from Coquitlam, met to marry off one of their children. Wow!! What a fun evening! I guess we can say we have done it all.......we have been friends since we were toddlers and thanks to the wonderful invention of email, we have managed to maintain a friendship of 47 years. We have been through pretty much everything together now. And it was such a fun night. The attention to detail was amazing, but that is my friend's reflection upon her daughter. She was always my"crafty" more ways than one. We had a lot of fun when we were teen-agers and when I became a mother when I was only 17, she was probably my bestest friend in the whole wide world. Stuck by me, no matter what, and even though our married lives took us to MR and Langley, we still share a whole lot love and a lot of history. It was so fun to see her family too, and they always remember who I am.......and that includes all the aunties and uncles too! Their family occasions were big way back then and they still are! Good times were had by all!! Congratulations Sara and Paul!!!

It's the long weekend!

And I am very happy about that! One extra day to finally get to the grocery store and get the banking done and maybe even finish the taxes. I am self-employed so I get until June 15th, but I really shouldn't pro-crastinate as much as I do. Instead of handing them to my accountant on the 10th or 11th, I should just finish them up and get them into her by this week. Good plan, now to stick to it!!

My friend's daughter is getting married today! I am very excited for her......this is my 'oldest' friend in the whole wide world. She calls me her 'longest' friend, as we have carried on a relationship for 47 years now. She lived next door to me when I was a little girl, we went to elementary school and junior high together. She was one of my bridesmaids, and now her daughter is getting married today. I have been asked to say grace and I have to admit that I am more than prepared but still a little nervous.

I received the most beautiful book last night, it was for Mother's Day, and only a few days late. (I have obviously passed on some of those pro-crastination traits to my The dedication in it reads, "This book is dedicated to Joanne H. Not only is she the most wonderful and caring person, she is the best Mother and Grandma in the world. This is to thank her for everything she does for us. She is truly amazing and we love her to the moon and back. Happy Mother's Day 2009! Love Always and Forever, Miracle #3 and Baby xoxoxoxoxo" It is a computer-generated picture book of Baby's first year of life.....birth to a few weeks ago, and it is one of the most beautiful gifts I have ever, ever received. I like "thoughtful" gifts..........the gift of time, the gift of love. Monetary "stuff" has never been my style, and this is one of the most precious presents ever. And if you know #3, you would know that computers have never been her thing, so that fact that she has spent hours and hours in her busy life to upload and write captions and give this to me........well, that makes it even more special. I keep looking at it, and I am feeling very, very blessed!!

One more more inch

So, if he could talk.......he would tell you that he got his shots yesterday and he is now 28 pounds 14 ounces with a clean diaper and t-shirt on. He is 32 inches tall. He still fits all the same clothes that he received for Christmas and is enjoying his birthday duds as well. In six short weeks, he has gained a pound and an inch. He is still very, very big for his age and is such a good boy with a very easy-going temperament. High adaptability, low sensitivity. He was so fun to be with on the weekend, and after going through all my pictures, you would think it was his cruise, not our Mother's Day cruise. #3 was at the Health Unit yesterday and one of the nurses that she knows was on our cruise. She mentioned that it took her 52 years to go on a cruise and Baby got to go when he was one. He will never remember it, but it sure was fun to take him!!!

Visiting with a little friend who was a week older than him. He was actually more fascinated with her than the great big Wii game going on behind him at this point. He loves all the little children and gravitates towards them.

Smiley guy.....

Still grinning away......he is always so happy!

This picture comes with a very funny story. Miracle #3, Baby and I were sitting on the balcony enjoying our harbour view and this seagull showed up on the railing. Well, if you have ever seen a seagull up close, you will realize that they are very, very big birds. And when you are staring at one that is less than two feet away, they can be quite frightening. Baby loved him, and probably would have kept him as a pet if he was allowed. But we went inside and watched him through the closed doors. Right after I took this picture, another bird came swooping down and scared this one away. But it landed on our deck and couldn't get off. It kept trying to fly through the glass railing......wouldn't fly up, but out instead. It was there for at least 15 minutes, and because it was so scared, it was making a mess of our deck. I guess it really was 'scared s***less'. We had a really good laugh about it but we still felt very sorry for the bird......I went to Reception and they were able to come and help it fly away while we were at our Muster station drill. When we came back, the bird was gone, the deck had been cleaned and there wasn't any more drama for us for the rest of the weekend. Such a fun time.......I think we should get to go on a cruise every weekend!

I miss Jamaica!

Really, it's just the warmth that I really miss. I really did love being there, especially with Hubby who was so relaxed and carefree when he was there. We have been back for three weeks already and it is amazing how quickly we fall back into our basic routines again. Work, eat, sleep, appointments, chores and cleaning up seem to consume us when we are home. Holidays just aren't like that. Lots of eating and sleeping but I just love having meals made for me. Hubby cleans up every day, so I don't do that when I am home either. An honourable mention has to be given to him for making me a beautiful Mother's Day dinner too. And he spent all day Sunday cleaning, tidying and doing laundry, just so when I came home from my cruise, I would just get to relax and continue to be pampered. He also installed the lights in the hallway. I ordered dinner on Monday night so I actually went 6 days without cooking just this past weekend too. It felt very odd to make lunch on Tuesday, as it was the first time I had pulled out a pot to cook in for quite a few days. I am spoiled, yes, I know that already. And I am at the point in my life that I don't have to work as hard....and yes, I do appreciate it!! Every day. I love my life, and I especially love the people who are in it!!!

Happy Anniversary!

I know that I am three days late, but I didn't see the happy couple on their actual anniversary. They went up to the Okanagon to spend some time with each other, and to visit the local wineries. #2 came over on Monday and it sounds like they managed to get to four, and they also had a lovely celebratory dinner at The Burrowing Owl. I have never been to Osoyoos, we passed through there once in 1991, but that is my extent of even knowing what it looks like. I hear that it is beautiful, and part of Wine Country. The kids had a wonderful weekend, and one year has already flown by!! #2 will be finished school in July and he is looking very forward to the day!!

And on Monday, my Canucks were officially done for the season. The Chicago Blackhawks eliminated them from the second round and so I don't have any more games to go to this year. I am grateful for my three little nine year olds who are still playing 3 on 3 and I will still get to go to the hockey rink until the middle of June. Hurray for me!! I have about 5 children who are still waiting for me to show up at their softball games too, so that is something I will definitely do soon too. I don't have a whole lot planned this month, so as long as the weather co-operates, then I need to get out to the ball-fields. It was really nice a few weeks back, but now the rain and the coolness seems to be outlasting the sunshine. I am definitely a fair-weather ball-watcher! And the Canucks are off to the Golf Course!!

Wind and Water

Baby had such a fun time, just playing in the wind on the ship. We had the most glorious weekend, weather-wise, and it was always very fun to go outside. He giggled every time, when the wind came our way!

He spent a lot of time, just looking out the window or off the balcony.........he loved all the "Pee". We really did love watching him, as everything is one big, exciting adventure!

And of course, because we were on a cruise ship, everything was water-themed anyway. Here he is in the Spinnaker Lounge, admiring the artwork.

In his mommy's arms, just looking out the back of the boat. We spent most of Saturday afternoon out here! I think the only reason we went inside is because it was time to get something to eat. Or maybe it was naptime......our weekend went by sooooo fast that I don't even remember.

At one of the bars on the 6th Floor.......still more water and bubbles to look at!! Water, water, everywhere!

Travelin' Man

Baby was an excellent little traveller. He was very cautious for the first 24 hours, but by the end of the first day, he was feeling very comfortable in his new little world. We spent lots of time enjoying our ship, and Baby was very fun to watch. As you can see by these pictures, he didn't stay still for very long!!!

Walking around the promenade deck. He loved the wind!!

After-dinnertime entertainment. We had eaten at the Indigo restaurant on Saturday night, but we went to the Blue Lagoon for dessert. Baby loved cheesecake!! A boy after my own heart!!

This is in the Spinnaker Lounge. He was the only one on the dance floor, and he had a wonderful time, chasing all of the moving lights!

Rockin' to the beat!

This is to the entrance to The Stardust Theatre. You can't see the little incline of the hallway, but Baby spent lots of time, going up and down, up and down. We managed to see the entertainment on Friday night, as we were late getting there and were ushered into the private box for the suite holders. We sat in the front row of the balcony and enjoyed all of the dancing and singing. Baby seemed to really like it too!!

Home again, home again.....

This was his first impression of his first time on a cruise ship. He spent a lot of time just looking out at all of the "Pee". This is the way he says "pretty", and it was just so cute......everytime he looked out, it was "Pee". So were the lights and the flowers and all of the ambience that the Norwegian Pearl had to offer. We had a wonderful two days at sea!!!

This was our was a junior suite, and I recommend it!!

Enjoying her first cruise with a one year old....complete with sippy cup!

It was so nice to have a bathtub......and to have a bathroom that wasn't the size of a shower stall!! I don't think I can ever go back to a normal stateroom again!! I know that I don't usually spend a whole lot of time inside, but I truly did love the balcony and the bathtub!!

And this is what awaited me when I arrived home at 5 pm tonight. Miracle #4 had spent the better part of today, weeding the front flower bed. I wish that I had a before-picture, as you would be able to see how many hours it must have taken him!! Thank-you to all of my miracles, for making my life complete!! Happy Mother's Day to me!!!!!
