Catching up

The days and the weeks are just flying by. I know it's because I have been busy, but that's really not a reason. To me, anyway. On Saturday, Toddler was dropped off by his mom and dad while I was out doing a last minute pick-up. When we went to M&M's on Friday night, it was already closed at 8:15, so I zipped out in the morning and picked up a few things for the week, and also the sausage rolls which I had promised to drop off to a funeral that was starting at 11 am at the church. I felt so bad when I heard about this one........the boy was only 19. All I could think of was, "His poor family....." I don't know any details, I believe it was an OD but no mother should ever have to bury their's just too sad.

When I went to the church, it was Pre-school registration so I was able to have a quick chat with #2 and his co-worker, and also grab a cup of coffee and a cookie. DIL had baked the cookies, and it was hard to stop at only having one but it was delicious. I had just picked up the frozen ones from M&M's to bake, and I was feeling a little guilty, as home-made are simply the best. Especially my daughter-in-law's. It is one of her passions and it is extremely evident in how good everything always tastes.

Norwex presentation/BeautiControl mini-spa went extremely well. I earned my mop and other good stuff from Norwex and the ladies and I pampered ourselves with hand and foot treatments and facials. Again, I earned some fun prizes and we ended up with a really great family evening of pizza and visiting. The men watched hockey while the rest of us enjoyed each others company and Sam and Jen tried on some of the old grad and party dresses that we still had in closets. The best was when Jen walked out with a pretty little dress on, and Toddler looked up from what he was doing and said, "Ohhhhhhh, pretty!" Like who taught him that?!" We know who taught him how to say "Doh." #4 thought it was his Grandpa, but it really was his daddy. They both say it when they drop something, and now Toddler says, "Dope." It's funny but we all like "Oh, deah" much better.

I went to church on Sunday, while Hubby sorted out bottles and took them back to the depot. He made $37 for all his hard work, and I was sure to spend it as fast as he made it. We went to Costco and picked up a few things that we hadn't gotten the week before as we had our 2% rebate cheque. So we picked up some extras that we wouldn't have normally gotten, but they were almost free. We got lamps for out living room.....only $58.99 for two and they are lovely. We haven't ever had lamps in our living room and I can honestly say that after almost 22 years, they are worth waiting for. All of the miracles approved too. Again, Toddler noticed right away and he says, "Ohhhhhh, pretty."

When we went to Gymnastics yesterday, the coach there was commenting on how well co-ordinated Toddler is, and how well he can jump on the trampoline. He has good balance, and she said that her four year olds can't jump as well as him. It was nice to hear, and we always thought that his gross and fine motor skills were advanced, and she helped to validate our opinions. He's cute to watch, and ever so fun!!

I made a ham dinner last night for Family Night, but the family finished up making it, as I went to watch the Vancouver Canucks beat the Buffalo Sabres. Such a good night, and I am going to be sad on Wednesday as that is our last game until the middle of March because of the Olympics. I really do love my hockey games. We are heading to Langley next week for a Giants game, and that should be fun. But it just isn't the Canucks. Part of the fun is the craziness of GM Place....I especially like the green guys by the penalty box, but there is always something interesting going on in the crowd. I love people watching.

We love babies!

I don't know if it is genetic, or it's because they have been around them all of their lives, but the miracles and I love it when babies come to visit. This baby is almost 2 months old and she is a miracle baby. She comes with a story that will bring tears to your eyes, and make you believe in the power of prayer if you didn't. But I don't have all of my facts, so until I talk to her mom again, I am not going to tell you her story. But I promise I will one day.......and I promise that it will be worth waiting for!!

Samantha came to visit and she and her mom and her sister love babies as much as we do!! It was fun to watch everyone who wanted to hold her, and love her. We just couldn't get enough of holding and cuddling her.

Miracle #3 is showing off her cute little toes!

Even Toddler had to get in there and see her.

He kept saying, "No datu, no datu......." He was very tentative. Loved to look at her and make her smile but wanted no part of holding her!

He's going to be the best dad!! Only 3 more months to go!!

Oh my!

The children have been busy. They were so proud of themselves when they "decorated" my living room with balloons last week. They have been playing with the balloons a lot, but this is definitely a first. I would have never thought it, and I give them a lot of credit for following through with a plan. They did this without any adult help.

I just slept almost eight hours, consecutively......practically unheard of in my world, especially in the last few months. Feels good! I love my Board Certified Doctor of Natural Medicine. I have always called her my naturapath, but I found out on Monday that that is incorrect. She has way more letters after her name and she is also a Clinical Herbal Therapist, Registered Orthomolecular Health Practioner, and a Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner. Wow, an absolute bargain for $50 a visit!! I bought some of her vitamins for Toddler, just because I believe that we all need to take vitamins, especially in the winter. He LOVES them, and always wants more than one. He calls them candy, and I always say, "No, but it is like candy." I was taught a long time ago that we should never call vitamins or any other medication candy, but I wasn't going to argue with a 21 month old. He watches me take my vitamins and supplements every morning, so he loved that he was, "Just like Grandma!"

I am excited for today. Toddler is coming over this morning while his mom and dad go to Coquitlam Centre to spend some of their gift cards that they received for Christmas. And I have a couple of errands to run to get ready for my Norwex demonstration/BeautiControl mini-spa that I am having today. Miracle #1 is coming for lunch, so I look forward to that. Her temporary job ended yesterday so she has asked for prayer......for finding something else that she liked as much as this last one. She is working for a temp agency, so we already know that she will get something, but she just wants it to be sooner than later. With the Olympics coming, I am sure that something will come up, but she is a worrier. Prayers, please?

So I had best get started with my day, I am so happy that it is beginning to get lighter in the morning, and it is staying lighter until almost 5pm. It has been so gorgeous out in the last few days, so sunny and quite warm that it feels like Spring is around the corner. I know that VANOC isn't appreciating it, as Cypress doesn't have any snow on it for their events in three weeks, but us true Lower Mainlanders are loving it. We broke a few records this week, with it being 12 to 14 degrees. I love Spring!! It is my most favourite time of the year!!!

Baby K

This baby comes to Kindersteps every Thursday morning......she has been coming ever since she was about 2 weeks old and Toddler calls her Baby Lalli. He has been rather smitten with her ever since she was wee. She's a bit of a butterball now, at four months old and 19 lbs. I still think she is wee.

He really likes her....and she quite likes him too!

I would have to say that he actually loves her. He used to stare at her in her carseat, and would never even think to touch her a few months ago. Now that she smiles and goos at him, he isn't afraid to touch her any more. She has a big brother, so she likes the attention and is used to other children. Toddler just can't get enough of her!! And he is very good with her.

Look at his reaction to her when he took her blanket off of her. She was sad, and Toddler looks very surprised. He didn't know how to fix it, and yet he is the one who caused it. She was starting to get tired too.

All better's amazing what a soother and a blanket can do to please a four month old! She was off to Dreamland very shortly thereafter.

Thursday morning memories

I took some more pictures this morning......over 100 of them.....but I deleted 20% or more. I did a lot of aiming and shooting and experimenting. We had fun, the children and I.....but we usually do! Here is some proof..........I love pictures, but I love the children even more!!

From the past few weeks!

I take a lot of pictures........and I delete a lot of pictures. I do think that I keep more than I actually delete, but I am loving my new camera. The children have even reached the point where they say to me, after they have done something, "Take a picture." I usually do. I think that memories are very important.

A couple of days before Christmas....a couple of rock stars!

This is his place to hide when he has to have a bm.....he usually says, "Bah"(bye) and disappears. Whenever I go to see him, and if he isn't finished yet, then he looks at me very sternly and says,"NO." For now, he is getting away with it, but I know that one day, we will have to take him potty. I gave him a little potty the other day and he won't go near it. I will have to get the other children to sit on it and show him what it is. Right now, it is just a strange new chair in my bathroom. He looks at it, but he is almost afraid of is his cautious personality.

They were so proud!

They are ALL loving playing the new Lego Rockband!

These guys warm my heart. She is going to be 5 in May, and he is going to be 2 in April. They love each other. He gets so excited to see her and she is so eager to give him hugs and help him learn. Sometimes, overly helpful....but that's how she is going to learn too. Her brother is 23, so needless to say, she is being raised as an only child. Her parents appreciate all that I do for them and their daughter and we do our best to give the best of ourselves that we are able. She only comes to my house three days a week, and right now she is our only little girl. There are usually six boys and her......she actually keeps them in line and it is funny to watch and to listen to. She's not the oldest, but by far the most strong-willed. I love her very much, the same as I love all my little friends, but she will always hold a very special place in my heart. I have known her parents for over twenty years, so we have a history together.

Who else thinks it is funny that Toddler out-weighs her by five pounds? And he has for almost a year!! She is very petite and probably always be, if you look at her gene pool. I think Toddler will always be big, it's in his gene pool. I love my job, and I love my children very, very much!!

Making faces, my sweet ride and more hockey!

Who thinks he looks like his daddy in this one? I do, I do!!

I think he looks like his daddy in this one too!! They both make a lot of the same expressions.

This is my friend's new vehicle. We had fun with it on Saturday!!

Went to another hockey game last night. Tall referee is another cousin, who is officiating at his younger cousin's Pee Wee game.

This is who we came to watch....he even scored a goal for us!! And also got an assist. It was a banner game, so that means that the Poco Pirates won the banner!! Yay, Poco!!!!

I told you I was going to be busy!

I don't think I had a moment to spare this weekend. We started both days at 8:15 am hockey games, and Hubby went to another one while I was downtown on Saturday. That was three minor ones for him, and two for me. I went to the Vancouver/Pittsburgh game so I had three games as well, but the NHL one was so excellent!! Wow!! What a great game!! Sidney Crosby came to town and as usual, the whole end of GM Place was packed while watching him practice. Media's best guess was 5000 fans at that end of the rink, snapping pictures and watching him skate and shoot. He is a good hockey player, but the Canucks held him without a point and it was a really fun night. It was just a really fun day! Watching a 7 year old play hockey, quick run into Coquitlam Centre to check out a sale at Sears, (I got a Lands End kelly green rain jacket that was too good of price to pass on, and then I convinced Hubby that I needed my purple rain coat before my birthday because it was going to rain lots and lots before the end of February.) We had breakfast at the White Spot, came home and went to Roots, and then I was picked up in my friend's shiny new silver Toyota SUV and we had a very, very fun rest of the day. Lonsdale Quay, a Gourmet Warehouse store and dinner at the Yaletown Brewery was great, and then we went to the hockey game. I came home just after 11 and fell into bed!!!

This is our Toddler on Friday night!!

Oh, he had so much fun!!

Saturday, 8:15 am in Port Coquitlam. 7 year old O

Saturday, 4:15 pm in Pitt Meadows, 10 year old Max

Sunday, 8:15 am, in Maple Ridge. 10 year old J
We started out Sunday at Planet Ice, we went to church and taught all the little pre-schoolers, came home for a very quick lunch and then went off to Costco, Urban Barn, Mark's Work Wearhouse, and Petland. I actually watched a movie called Private Valentine while I did some paperwork, and then #3 phoned and ended up coming over for dinner with Toddler while SIL went to play hockey. It was a fun night, but Toddler ended up going home and throwing up in his bed, so he didn't come to Daycare today. Had a cuddly, sleepy day with his mommy and is feeling way better by this evening. Pretty much back to his old self, so we are very grateful. I missed him. There were only 3 children here today, in total, so it was way too quiet. I did end up going to the naturapath to get some thyroid and sleeping issues resolved, so that was a good thing. I bought #4 and I some lunch at Bruce's Market and it was delicious. I will definitely going back. Our computer had no internet access since about 8 o'clock last night and I have missed my computer terribly. I had email access, just no #2 was good enough to come after work today and fix it up for us. He said that we lost our whole internet program.......don't ask....I have no idea what happened. It's still not working like it is supposed to, but at least I can blog again. I miss it when I can't do it!! And I really missed being entertained by my Facebook friends. Glad to be back.....hopefully it won't happen again!!!

Rollercoaster Week

Well, it's been one of those emotional high, emotional low weeks. Mostly highs, but the lows have been the death of a friend's brother (he took his own life, which makes it very, very hard on the family), colon cancer and breast cancer of another friend's brother and mother, and major surgery for a very, dear friend. The highs have been new jobs for Miracle #3 and SIL, both career moves which offer great potential and salary increases; my friend who has been in the hospital since November came home with a clean bill of health, Olympic hockey tickets which were given to me at half the price of what they are worth, and a possibility of a dress rehearsal ticket to Opening Ceremonies! Miracle #4 and I booked a trip to San Diego and we are very pumped up about that as well.

On Saturday, Hubby and I went to our monthly chiropractor appointments and I was given a she told me I was 'perfect'. Oh, don't tell me that, I said, I will run with it, and probably gloat! No one is perfect!!! I went to Toddler's house and he gave me my Christmas present that was on order and it was definitely worth waiting for. Of course, his smile and his offer of my gift with his chubby little hands was simply precious! I had my hair done and as usual, my hairdresser worked his magic and made me feel beautiful. Hubby and I went to Superstore and I bought the required staples for the week, but they were having this awesome toy sale, so of course, we indulged. Lots of half price items, and the daycare children are happy with their new toys. Hubby cooked dinner, I went to church, and it was an early night for both of us!!

On Sunday, Hubby had a 8:45 echo-cardiogram scheduled at the local hospital. His cardiologist is just being cautious. Hubby had open heart surgery when he was five, so he was due for his 7 year check-up or whenever he is supposed to go. Every five to ten years, I think, but we couldn't remember exactly when the last time was. Definitely pre-2003. He had never had an echo before, just an electro, so even though we try not to worry, we all know that the fear of the unknown is very normal. Took 15 minutes and it was an ultra-sound of his heart. Nothing to it, really! I think that I was probably more anxious than him!! Birthday partying took us right up to almost 2:30 and we were planning to go into North Vancouver to return something, but everyone was too tired by the time we got home. Always so many chores to finish up and Hubby made another great dinner!! Tuna casserole, but he makes it way better than I do!!

On Monday, it was Gymnastics Day and the children had a wonderful time. #4 took care of two little children while I went to the dentist in the afternoon. If my dentist and his assistant weren't so chatty, then I would have been out of there in a half hour (they loved that I am now using an electric toothbrush) but it was a short and efficient visit. I had a sore pointer finger that day, and was wondering if maybe the rain was causing it to be a bit arthritic. It's happened a few times before, and it's just achy, but it's always when it's raining. Hubby let me use his muscle ointment from his massage therapist and it was fine by the next day. Of course, it had stopped raining too! SIL, #2 and #4 made the best taco turkey dinner that night and I felt extremely spoiled by my boys!!

On Tuesday, Sara delivered my Discovery Toys and that was so fun. All I opened was the Shapes and Laces and the Snappy Ducks and my boys played and played with them all day. I thought that they were more age-appropriate for Toddler, but the 4 and 5 year olds had way too much fun and I have already gotten more than my money's worth. I do love Discovery Toys....I am having an on-line party if anyone wants to order anything. There are some great Flyer Specials for January, some stuff is half price. Do I love a good sale, or what?!?! My friend came by for tea that day so that was so nice.....we hadn't had a good visit since before Christmas, so it was overdue. I tried really hard to book our trip that day, but it was not to be. It was test of patience for the next few days, as R was working hard and wasn't checking her emails. I was stressed and lighting lots of candles......I figured out that I like candles when I am stressing. Went to a children's ministry meeting that night and I think we accomplished a lot.

Wednesday would have been a mellow day if I wasn't so excited about getting all the Olympic tickets, and I wasn't waiting to hear if our trip was confirmed. I really don't like waiting.....that's a given. Good day with kids though, and lots of fun was had by all. Hubby made the best chicken pasta dinner with sun dried tomatoes and veggies and then we went to watch Ryland play hockey later on. We hit Coquitlam Centre so I could check out a couple of things and I found the most beautiful purple raincoat and I have requested it for my birthday!!

On Thursday, Sara came and dropped off my Norwex order, (I had gone to party the week before) and then the ladies and I had such fun at Kindersteps chatting about recipes, child care conferences and Norwex. I guess everyone had heard of Norwex except me, but it totally revolutionizes cleaning. I hate cleaning. But this is different. Enviro-friendly micro fiber cloths---no chemicals and they clean like you would not believe. I certainly didn't until we tried them. The polishing cloth takes butter off of windows (not that I have butter on my windows, but that is how it is demonstrated) and the cloths have silver in them so they kill all the bacteria that you clean off of things. The bathtub scrub mitt was the most amazing thing I have ever seen......all you do is wipe the tub and it sparkles. No cleaners, just water and no elbow grease. I am going to have a presentation/party next Saturday afternoon, the 23rd. You just have to see it to believe it. I didn't!! Now I do!! I spent the better part of Thursday evening cleaning and dusting, and it was really great when R phoned and confirmed our trip. Made for a very restful sleep last night!!! Probably helped that I cleaned my house all night too!!

Today was another easy work day. It was pouring rain until lunch time so it made it very easy to stay in this morning. The four year olds and I did a puzzle that took us over an hour to complete, we had great behaviours and attitudes so that when our kindergartner and Grade Two boy showed up, they just ran with it and the day was over way too soon. Hubby made dinner tonight (chicken penne, but really it was fettuccine because I ran out of penne noodles) , while I went to the bank, and now it's just a lazy Friday evening. I have already planned an action-packed weekend so I had best get going to get some chores done before bed. It's my turn to clean up the kitchen.....Hubby usually does it, but because he has been doing so much of the meal prep this week, I figured it's only fair that I do it. I am kind of on a roll......I am a cleaning machine and it kinda scares me!! LOL

I really am a kid at heart.... when I found $38 flights to San Diego, I couldn't help but want to go. So we are. Miracle #4 has been off work since November and he wants to go as badly as me. Now we didn't actually get the $38 flights but my travel consultant was able to put an Allegiant flight and hotel package together (all the way from Alabama, she is on a missions trip with the church) and we are amazed at how reasonable it is to go away right now. January is always the time for checking into Hot Deals, as we learned last year when we went to Hawaii. Hawaii has been calling my name ever since we went last year, but it just wasn't meant to be. It's not like I didn't try!!

So, Miracle #4 and I are headed to SeaWorld and The San Diego Zoo at the end of the month, and we are very excited. We looked at other fun places, but this one was the best bang for your buck. And it is also a perfect holiday for we both love SeaWorld as much as the other. And last year we went to the Honolulu Zoo and had a terrific time there, and it is so small compared to any other zoo we have ever been to. Let's face it, we like Aquariums and Zoos. Museums too, but I don't think we'll have time to do that as well. Looking forward to getting away and having fun with my son. Priceless, absolutely priceless!

Hockey Night in Poco

Chase got a haircut!!

A couple of grandsons with their grandparents!

Our hockey star!

He had a good game, but they still lost 6-5!

.......I could have waited to give him his raincoat and boots that I bought him for his birthday. But I couldn't. The weather right now is perfect for them and he is having so much fun jumping in the puddles and checking out all the water. Children and water, they just belong together!!

He kept looking down here for his "loodle-loodle-loo". He was holding a little rooster when he got out of the van, but it managed to slip up his sleeve as he was running. Yes, I know that his coat is a little are the boots! Anyway, he kept telling me that his loodle-loo was down here! It wasn' soon as he went running off, it fell out of his sleeve onto the road.

He's really quite concerned about the water, and what is down there.

And he's off!! He really doesn't stay still for very long......
