She is here!

She arrived this morning via c-section, at 2:40 am. Weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces and measuring 21 inches long, we think she is the most beautiful grand-daughter in the whole world. Details to follow, as at 6:15 in the morning, I can honestly say that I was too busy admiring the little girl to get them straight.
It's been a very busy morning as Hubby's mom was also brought into hospital because she had fallen........she fell at the beginning of this week as well, and now again this morning! On a positive note, they are all at the same hospital!!

It has been brought to my attention that I haven't blogged in awhile. I know. Just not feeling all that interesting these days. We are waiting with great anticipation for our second grandchild to be born. Unfortunately, there is no news. Four days late and Bun is quite happy to be where he or she is. My original guess, way back when, was for April 29th, but I really didn't think that it would be this long. Specialist had different ideas because of gestational diabetes, but Bun doesn't really care. Is quite happy to be in utero. So we are waiting, waiting, waiting....

That is his name for himself......or Unno, depending on whose interpretation you listen to. Jessica is Akaka, Christopher is Ittiter, and Pierce is Poot. I love the way he talks. He tries so hard, and I love the way that some of the words come out. I hope that Leelee stays forever.....

My mom always said that 2 was her favourite age........and I always disagreed. Told her that I thought that it was whiny and demanding. Well, I have to agree with my really is the cutest age as long as they aren't yours. He is so funny, and keeps us chuckling all the time. The weather has been very spring-like in the last few days and I am loving it.......So are the children. I was disappointed that it rained yesterday as Hubby and I made it to Bellis Fair but never went to see the tulips as it was just too iffy. Oh well, we will think of something fun to do soon enough! I am getting very excited to meet my newest grandchild.......6 days to due date, but that unfortunately doesn't mean much. Only 5% of all children are born on their due date. I am tired of waiting, but I am sure that I am the least to be concerned about right now!

Afternoon Entertainment

"Wow. look at all the smoke." That's what my almost-6-year old was commenting from the living room yesterday; and as I was walking up the stairs, I really did wonder what he was talking about. As I rounded the corner to see, I was very surprised at what I saw. It entertained us for a while as we made up stories about what it could be from. We actually didn't hear the sirens........I did hear that there really weren't very many........but this is from some styrofoam burning at PRT Peltons. After a half hour or so, the fire was out, and we went on with our afternoon.

I am loving our Spring weather this week. Last week it was very, very cold and very, very windy, and now the sunshine is so nice and warm. We spent the morning playing outside, we went for a walk to see the horses, I took one little guy to pre-school and the the dishes are waiting for me. It's very quiet here right now and I am enjoying it way too much......

He talks a lot! His words aren't always understandable, but for the most part, he gets his point across. Has trouble with the letter 's', so every word except 'soo' has a missing first consonant. 'Eet, Mamma' means 'Sit, Mamma.' He directs me to do that a lot.....and I am fairly obliging. I love 'bucketball' and 'gockey', which are basketball and hockey. We finally weighed and measured him......35 pounds and 36 inches. Still big and still tall. He reminds me very much of Miracle #2, in his size and in his determination. When he is focused, then he is focused! He loves to look at books, and is absolutely perfect in knowing his colours. Numbers and letters are coming along, he seems to know the difference in them, and will always tell you the 2 and the 0. Helps that 2010 was everywhere you looked for a while there!

The first half of April has flown by. We went to a couple of Giants games last week, and they lost them both. But they have redeemed themselves by beating Portland last night and are heading into the 3rd round. The Canucks start their 1st round against the LA Kings tomorrow and I have a ticket so that is exciting. I have been out with my friends a fair amount and have frequented more than one local restaurant in the past week. Hubby and I have been married for 30 years and our anniversary was really was just another normal day.........I did receive some flowers, but we will have to acknowledge this milestone one day soon. Baby Bun is due in just over a week, so the anticipation of a new grandbaby is way to exciting to describe. I have decided it is a girl, but I was wrong with Toddler, so we will see. My niece emailed me last week to tell us that she and her husband are expecting their first baby in October. Babies, babies,'s so very exciting!!

He is Two!

Today is his 2nd birthday and when he was asked this morning if he wanted to talk to me on the phone, he said,"No, thank-you." He was busy playing and didn't want to be interrupted. I hear he really likes all of his new toys and his Daddy says they need more storage. LOL

His bottle is officially gone. Drinks milk from his new "big boy" cups and isn't really all that happy about it, but has accepted it. He really doesn't like cold milk. It's a hit or miss most days, some days he will drink two cups or more and the next day it is a struggle to get him to drink even one. He likes water. That is his drink of choice. So we are pleased that he likes yogurt and cheese, and he is also very good at taking his vitamin.

He likes to sing. He absolutely loves I am a Pizza by Charlotte Diamond and can pretty much sing all of the words. He can sing a lot of songs and it is very cute when he will sing them for you. His Mommy likes the "Barney I love you" song the best and Auntie Leelee's favourite is "Elmo's World." I personally love "Oh Canada" but any song is fun and I love that he knows the tunes of them so well. Actions are also very precise.

He goes to bed all by himself now. He gets a bedtime story, has his soother, (which he calls soo) and he lies on his tummy and falls asleep, usually within a few minutes. He is getting very independent and is very much a two year old. Likes his own way, and the temper tantrums are getting fewer and farther between, but he still has them. As he was rolling around on the Library floor the other day, it was really hard for me not to laugh, but all he wanted was my attention. Even people who witness them comment on how quiet he is, but that isn't always the case. More often than not, it is, but not always.

He spent his birthday at home with his Mommy and Daddy and they had company for brunch. We are having our Easter dinner tomorrow night, so it has been a very quiet Easter here too. We went to church this morning and taught our very loud 3 to 5 year old class (lots of sugar was consumed before class, I am sure) and then Hubby and I did some errands. Most of our day was very low-key and almost boring. The Giants have beaten the Portland Winterhawks and lead the series 2-0 and the Canucks are leading the Minnesota Wild 2-1 with a few minutes to go. It's been a very good weekend!

Birthday Party

Eating cheesies and dip

Lots of presents

Playing with his balloon

Checking out the gift bag

And I think that this was his very favourite part of his whole birthday party. There were over 50 people who came to celebrate his day with him, and this card was his absolute highlight. Yes, he was thrilled with his party, and he had a whole morning of fun and excitement.......but all it really takes to make a two year old happy is an Elmo card that sings Happy Birthday!! Again and again and again. Happy Birthday, my sweet boy.......your Grandma loves you more than you will ever know!!!!

One year later!

We haven't had any internet, phone or cable for the last few when we finally received it back again, I started going through some old picture files and I found this one year old picture. Wasn't he adorable? He still is, but he sure has grown up in a year! (The clothes that he is wearing still fit him......and the pants are the right length now)

It's a rainy, blustery night........and it was a rainy, blustery day. I gave blood today! Four is obviously my lucky number. And it only took them nine minutes to get the 2 cups that they were looking for. I was rather proud of my 50 year old body today...........I have always had trouble with having my iron levels high enough for CBS standards........and today it was high enough. It took me four tries, but it did work, and for that, I was rather proud. Of my perseverence for going back, and for my body for finally getting it right.
