I went to the eye doctor today. My glaucoma is still very minimal and he called it glaucoma suspect. My pressures have been good (18 and 19 in May) and that was good news. And now it turns out that I have cataracts.......apparently they are very small. Didn't really think much of it, I figured if they were small and not really bothering me yet, then I would just wait until they were. But then I received some rather exciting news. If I get them fixed, then I won't have to wear glasses any more.
Ummmmm.......pardon me? Could you repeat that? You would have thought that that I had just won the lottery. Eye surgery. Not so great. But no more glasses! Well, that was way too cool. I have worn glasses since I was seven years old........and I have -10 and -11 diopters in my prescription. The first thing that I do every morning is reach for my eyeglasses so that I can see. I still have
a lot more questions, and very serious doubts that I will be glasses-free, but I have lots of tests and appointments in July, and we will see if I am a candidate. He is worried about my retinas (there is a slight chance of detachment) so I have to see a retinal specialist as well. So as much as I am really excited, I do know that there is still a slight possibility that I may not be able to have the lenses replaced, so I am being realistic too. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I really am almost giddy about it!!!
