More from the patch!

We have had a splendid October, weather-wise.  Actually, if you don't count the torrential rainfall for a few days at the end of September, we have had a pretty good five months.  Lots of sun and playing outside days.  There was a piece on the news last week about The Pumpkin Patch, about how this has been a record-breaking season and it hasn't rained for all four weekends this month.  The hot, dry summer has made for excellent growing conditions for the pumpkins, and the people have been coming out in droves.  Our little blessings made a trip to the patch, once again, and cousin Sarah joined them on a very sunny and even warm Sunday afternoon.

Pretty Girl, searching for the perfect pumpkin.  This was her third time out, and like all 3 year olds, she had a very fun time!

Sweetheart had a terrific time as well.  She made it here three times and her brother actually came here four times this season.  She is looking rather determined in this picture, don't you think?

100 days

......until the opening of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter games.  This was on my newsfeed this morning and I still remember the 2010 Winter games in Vancouver so fondly. It is hard to believe that almost 4 years have gone by.   My life is going by too fast.  Seriously!

Another Friday fun day!

We went back to the Pumpkin Patch on Friday.  It was a provincial Pro-d day, so it wasn't too crowded when we got there at 9 am, but it sure got busy fast.  We had a group of 2 five year olds, 1 four year old, 5 two year olds and an 11 month old.  There were four adults along, so we ended up splitting up as we really did just need to divide and conquer.  Here are some of the pictures that #3 has shared with me from her phone and I realize that we don't have any pictures of Tai or Kara.  Oops!  We all had a great morning out and I hear that all of the blessings are headed back there today, so I may still have more pumpkin pictures to share.  Hallowe'en is only 4 days away and everyone is getting so excited!

We are missing 2 two year olds and a one year old, but here is our group shot!

They all love this great big plastic pumpkin!

"My mommy is sirty-one"

Oh, how I love this girl!  It's actually quite mutual. She is full of hugs and smiles, and lots and lots of words. We spend a few mornings a week together as her daycare and my daycare join up for various activities. And she always asks me as we are leaving, "Do you have a seat for me?"  Because for some reason or another, it is just always way more exciting to go home with me than to go home. She is so her mother's daughter!  Always liked to be out and about too!

We had a birthday dinner last night as #3 turned 31 today, so we all just laughed at our 2 1/2 year old as she dipped her broccoli into her ice cream. She loved it and still ate it all....such a cute and funny little girl!  Happy Birthday, to my beautiful and caring daughter!  We all love you to the moon and back again!  Thank-you so much for the privilege of being your Mom.......and for giving us two of our precious blessings.  Dad and I think that you should give us another....just sayin'

More Fog

I love these pictures that people put on Facebook. This one was taken in the Fraser Valley, and it is such a great photo.  Still foggy outside, always in the morning....must still be October!

2 weeks ago, on Great-nephew's last day at Daycare, he became a big brother!

Playing.  She was pretending to paint his face

He is a big brother.....we just didn't know it yet!

Good friends!

More friends!

Sweet boys!

Having so much fun!

She is reading them a story.

More playing!

They all LOVE the marbles!
Great-nephew has been at home with his Mommy, Daddy and new baby brother for two weeks now and we all miss him very much.  It was such a nice surprise when he dropped by with his family yesterday and we were all able to peek at Isaac and have a quick little cuddle.  They were just on their way home from Baby's Dr. appointment and he is doing wonderfully well.  He is 8 pounds 9 ounces already......nursing well and sleeping a couple of hours between feeds.....and seems very easy-going.  He has a bit of reflux, that will hopefully just correct itself as his little digestive system grows and matures.  Very common in new-borns and not much can be done.  He isn't complaining about it very much, so I guess it isn't too bothersome.  More worrisome to Mommy and Daddy as like all parents, they just want to help him as much as they can, and take all his troubles away.

Anyway, Great-nephew really loved seeing all of his friends and he didn't want to go home, so he stayed for lunch.  When his Daddy texted at 2:30, he still didn't want to leave as he was having such a great time.  It seems to really be a great time here these days......all of the three year olds in attendance did not want to leave and like I told all of their parents, "It is a good thing, it means that they are socially getting along."  Life at Daycare is very, very good!  Especially if you are three!

It has been a foggy month.  I really do think that October is traditionally foggy, and this one has been no exception.  The dampness is rather bone-chilling, but usually by 2 o'clock, the sun is appearing and the afternoons are delightful.  I have pulled out my winter coat, but not my usual down ski jacket.  It is the first year in a long time, that I am cold, but not as cold as usual.  We are appreciating the sunshine and the Fall colors, knowing that the November rain is right around the corner......

Today is a special day!  One year ago, on this day, we were celebrating a marriage of my niece and her husband.  I cannot believe that a whole year has gone by.

For that matter, I cannot believe that it is already the 20th of October.  This month is flying by so quickly.  We celebrated Thanksgiving last Saturday evening......Hubby and I made the turkey to bring to dinner and Miracle #3 made the ham, potatoes and veggies.  Everyone contributed a salad or dessert to our meal and we all felt very grateful.  The reason that I crossed myself off of making the turkey is that I was supposed to help, and then booked a yoga class at 11, so even though I was supposed to help make stuffing and get the bird into the oven, it ended up that Hubby flew solo.  And he did an amazing job.  Because as he was just finishing stuffing the turkey, his massage therapist phoned and asked why he wasn't at his noon appointment.  Oops!  He left me a quick note and I ended up actually covering and placing the turkey in the oven and that was my contribution.  Tasted great and we even ended up getting the carcass to make soup and I made that on Tuesday for dinner.

By having our family dinner on Saturday, it left the rest of the weekend to relax and do chores and as I look back to try and remember what we actually did, my mind is blank.  I know that we went out for dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory on Sunday,  because we took Sam out with us.  Her parents had flown to Vegas for the weekend and her sister was babysitting, so she was free for dinner.  She is in her third year at SFU and welcomed the break from working and studying for mid-terms......she was so cute when we picked her up as she was soooooooooo excited.  Warmed my heart that I can still make a 20 year old happy, just by taking her out for dinner!

On Monday, we had a couple of the blessings here for dinner, so that their parents could go out for dinner and celebrate their 6th wedding anniversary.  They went to The Keg, which was breaking with tradition.  For the past 5 years, they have gone to Paliotti's, but they used gift cards.

JKL has been released from the hospital and is in the care of my Dad.  I have a lot of mixed feelings about this situation as I don't really know if she is really ready to be out and about.  #3 did see her on Thursday and it was certainly a better visit that it has been in a while, but she still has a long way to go.  In the times that I have seen her, you can definitely tell that the medication is working, but it is slow.  Only time will tell, and she has a team that comes and visits her at the house this I am hopeful that she will progress further and further in the right direction.

This weekend is flying by fast too.  We went to Chiro appointments yesterday morning, then I went to yoga, came home for quick lunch and then went to get my hair done.  And I told my hairdresser to go ahead and do whatever he liked.  Hmmmmmm......we all know what happened last time I did that.  I ended up with Christmas red.  Well, I told him that I didn't want it too drastic and he totally surprised me with mahagony. I love it!  I got a fair amount cut off this time too, so it's shoulder length again.  I think that I like this length the best on me.

Hubby and I went to The Swiss Chalet for dinner and then I went to was a very busy day and I was exhausted enough to head to bed before 11 last night.  That is early for me.

It has been a busy Sunday.  Started out our day by going to Boundary Bay.....Hubby had been given some information on lady who wanted to sell her piano rolls for her player piano that didn't work any more.  Did I ever mention that Hubby bought a player piano last month?  I don't know if I did, but it really is a whole other blogpost.  He bought one in 1977 and sold it in 1980 so that we could get married and put a down payment on a house, so it was always with the understanding that he would get a new one when we could afford it.  Fast-forward 33 years later and he now has another 'magic piano.'  That's what the daycare children call it and we have all had a lot of fun with it.  He bought a hundred rolls this morning so I can tell that he will continue to have a lot more fun with it.

Sunday is traditionally chore and errand day, so we did a little bit of shopping before hitting Costco and the vegetable store.  I made cabbage rolls for dinner and I hear that they are ready, so I should probably go join my lovely spouse before he is done.

My sweet little great-nephew is already 9 days old.  He is growing and changing so quickly.....and getting cuter and cuter by the minute!  Isn't he so precious?

My superstar!

Grandson's hockey team is playing in the intermission of the Flames game tonight.  We are all very excited to watch our little superstar.  He is really enjoying playing hockey this year, and we all are having a lot of fun going to see him on the ice.  At his age level, it is all about having fun and working on skills, so they have a little game at the end of every practice.  But tonight, they get to skate with the big guys!

One day old!

We went to visit my newest great-nephew last Friday evening and had a wonderful visit and some wonderful baby cuddles.  He is so darn cute and we all love him to pieces.

More Pumpkin Patch

I love pumpkin pictures!  Pretty Girl has been on two field trips to two different pumpkin patches.  If you include the trip to the Apple Barn in September and/or her visit to Funland at Art Knapp's, then she has had lots of pumpkin experiences.  And it is only half-way through October, so there could be more to come. I love this girl! And she loves pumpkins!
