Happy New Year! I actually had this photo made into Christmas cards, and then didn't mail any out. Oops! I still have them, and will probably still send them out anyway. But for now, this peek will have to do. We are spending a quiet New Years Eve at home and will probably be sleeping by the time midnight gets here on the west coast!

I know I haven't been blogging very much this month. No reason. No busier or crazier than usual, but I do have a computer that has completely stopped working. And a camera that is only a year old, but doesn't always take the greatest of photos to share. So I depend on my iPad. A lot. Probably too much, and it isn't always charged and ready to go. Sooooooooo, this is all I have for now.
I didn't cook Christmas dinner this year. I only do it every other year and this was my year off. Hubby, #4 and I went out to Mission to Hubby's sister and brother-in-laws house. #1 joined two of my sisters with my dad and three of her cousins, #2 went to his in-laws, and #3 cooked for SIL and his family this year. Thank-you to everyone who sent pictures, as I didn't take a single one all day!

Sweet Pea is probably one of the happiest smiliest babies that you will ever meet. Unless she is on Santa's knee. She encountered him more than once during the holiday season......and this was the result every time. It is still a great memory!

Not everyone liked Santa this year. But we did the token screaming baby before their parent's came in and saved them. It is surprising how Sweet Pea stopped instantaneously when her Daddy saved her. And I think it is rather amusing how many people stand in the line-up just waiting and knowing what is to come. Let's face it, it is more normal for them to cry when they are under two than for them to like the jolly old guy!

Well, if the next few weeks go by as fast as the past week, then I am in trouble. We started our week at our first Christmas party of the season, and the children loved it. It would have been nice if the weather had cooperated and not been so rainy but it is November, after all. They didn't care, but we decided to forgo the hayride as we didn't want to get drenched.
She is also rolling from back to front. (She started right around 4 months old) Which is kinda funny, because she isn't really going from front to back a whole lot. She does it sometimes, but not nearly as often as back to front. She is growing up right before our very eyes and we love her to the moon and back again!

We really did have a great weekend, starting our Saturday morning with Chiro appointments and shopping. Hubby and I went out for lunch before we went to watch Sweetheart dance and Grandson play hockey. We watched a Christmas movie before heading to the Giants game, where they got beat by the Prince George Cougars. It was an exciting game.....started with a fight and two game misconducts just 12 seconds in. Gotta love WHL hockey!
We went to church this morning and then I had a Grandma date with my two oldest granddaughters. They chose McDonald's for lunch, and were so excited to be together. Lots of excited squeals coming from two very precious blessings, and I just love that they think McDonald's is such a special treat.

Sweetheart and her mommy went to Toys R Us on Wednesday. And she was very very impressed! I love how when she tells me about the big toy store, she gets so excited! Christmas is coming and she is making her list. We had fun looking through the toy flyers yesterday, and she and her brother are circling what they would like. Let's face it......at 3 and 6, they are pretty easy to please!

Well, I know that all good things must come to an end and I went to my first of the season Canucks loss last night. And it was in a shoot out. So if they gotta lose, they might as well do it in an entertaining way. The Canucks are doing fairly well this year. So far. They played pretty good up until Christmas of last year too. But it really is a different team, different management.......really, you can't even compare them to last year. They have played a quarter of their season, and at 20 games, they have 13 wins, 6 losses and 1 shoot out loss. 27 points overall which puts them second in the west, just two points behind Anaheim. So far, so good, and I am looking forward to going again next week.

Children are our future. I know that sounds cliche but it is so true. I spend A LOT of time with children, and I know that some of the things that I do are extremely repetitive and mundane, but they are so important. Once again, working with children is a lot different than raising them, but I still do help with that as well. It isn't the same, but it is still important. I love my job and I love my life, but I especially love that I really do make a difference in the lives of children. Many, many children!

We have had such a chilly week. Sunny and cold. And I know that I shouldn't be happy to see the rain arrive tomorrow, but I am. It means that when the clouds roll in, then the air warms up. Here is my Friday group getting ready to walk A to pre-school. (Her sister stayed home because she was sick) I think that it is funny that my 2-two year olds, my three year old and my four year old are all very similar in height and weight. And that Tai can't keep his feet still. Ever. Cute kids, and I really do feel blessed.

We started our day babysitting two of our grand-daughters so that #3 could go and get her tooth filled. Sweetheart watched Frozen with Hubby and I, while Baby slept just about the entire time her Mommy was gone. We went to watch Sweetheart dance before going to watch Grandson play hockey. It was his turn to be the goalie and he loved it. He was actually pretty good at it, and I am sure that helped make him love it more. He's hooked!

Our bible study this week was on vocational health. It was our last week, and next week we are having a pot luck to celebrate our 50 days of transformation. Hard to believe that my last devotional will be tomorrow. I really did love doing this, and what I loved most is that it was so doable. I really do believe that out of all the studies that I have done over the past 30+ years of my adult life, it is the only one that I have ever completed. I did every page of my book. Homework was accomplished every day. I never fell behind, and I never felt stressed because it wasn't done. Glory asked us if anyone had any testimonies we could share with our church family, and I can honestly say that I don't have anything that I could share that I learned. It affirmed what I already know. It put a different perspective on some valid Christian beliefs, but I am fairly grounded on what I believe is true. My prayer request for my vocational health was to stop living in the planning and enjoy more of the day to day occurrences. Hard to do when you live my life, because I am always one step ahead. I think that I enjoy the little things, and especially the moments, but I need to enjoy while I am living in it.

Wind. Rain. Sunshine. Cold. Warm. Blue Skies. Gray skies. All of these are part of Fall. Just plain old unpredictable. And Tuesday was a typical Fall day. And it was Family Picture Day. Does anyone hear the stress in my words? We tried. We had to reschedule four times. For various reasons, but mostly because of the weather. And we were prepared for the cold. But none if us were prepared for the 40+ km winds. And we still tried. But we were all freezing!!! And we had red faces and drippy noses.
One baby started to cry. Then our 3 year old started in. Next it was the 4 year old. But she was only sad because everyone walked away. A bit comical when you look back, but it was sooooo cold. And the photographer was so understanding, as we stood in a park in Mission and made the decision to take our freezing bodies home. And we couldn't even reschedule as she had no dates to reschedule to. We decided we would go again in the Spring, or even Summer. Unfortunately, that left us all dressed up and out of luck for Christmas cards this year.
Well, thanks to DIL who is very resourceful.....she got on the phone and started calling photo studios and then friends. And she found her friend who has a DSLR camera, and she met us in a local park with her two little children and proceeded to click away. We got some photos, and I haven't seen them yet, but DIL has seen a few and she says that what she has seen are good.
The power went out right after noon in a lot of areas in Maple Ridge, for almost 10 hours. (We didn't lose power at our end of town). And I hear that the wind was the worst in Maple Ridge and Mission. I witnessed it firsthand. Wind. And bitter cold. Hubby, #3 and Baby already were fighting colds from last week, so Hubby was cold all day. He couldn't get warm. I, on the other hand, was totally fine. Completely opposite from what we are used to.......as I am the one who is so cold or heat sensitive......but this time I was okay. Very disappointed. But thanks to DIL, my disappointment was short-lived. Looking forward to sharing more at a later date!

I live in a beautiful city. Especially when the sun comes out on the 10th of November. I worked today, but I only had three children. Jade decided that we needed to go to her school to play. So we did. It was a wonderful idea, and we had a wonderful time!

Miracle #3 was talking with a friend who told her about a little clothing store in Pitt Meadows that gives theme parties for children. They also do superhero parties, so it isn't limited to little girls. So for $25, Sweetheart got to meet Elsa and Anna yesterday. She was given a tutu and a cape, she made a crown and an Olaf card, and she sang songs and enjoyed pictures and stories with the princesses.
