The magician

It was a beautiful sunshiney summer day!  So when I heard that the library was sponsoring a magician at the bandstand, it sounded like a great little outing for the children. So we slathered on the sunscreen and packed a picnic and went to enjoy the entertainment.

Grandson was chosen to help out the magician with another little girl who was also six.  He was thoroughly delighted and was a superb assistant!

Hmmmm......what do you think?  Just a little bit excited as he came back to join us after he was done!

Haircut! And baby update!

Sweetheart got her very first haircut today!  Doesn't she look adorable?  And very ready to be a big sister.  She was very serious when the lady was cutting her hair and I can't help but think that it makes her look more grown up. She did get measured today too and she has grown just over a quarter inch since May, so that means that she is just under 38 inches tall!

Miracle #3 went to the Dr almost a week ago.  At 38 weeks her fundal height was 41 centimeters and she has lost 1 kg.  Baby's heartbeat was 156 bpm.  She is ready!  More than ready, actually.  Because as we all know, Baby is just gaining weight ounce a day according to  I don't think that #3 looks all that different from a week ago, but she will tell you that she is grumpy and sore.  And more than ready to meet this new little person.  She has been having LOTS of Braxton Hicks contractions which leads me to believe that when she actually goes into active labour, it is going to happen fast.  That was the Dr's opinion last Monday any time is good for us!  Any time at all!

It rained today, so this was one of our rainy day activities.  We made muffins, played dress-up and play-doh, and even made it outside later in the afternoon when the rain stopped briefly.  All in all, it was a pretty good day.  Although, very shortly after this, Pretty Girl headed to library with her mom and never did make it.  Just as they got to the parking lot, she vomited.  And her mom was amazing as she gave her a bag just in the nick of time.  I hear that she has done it once more since getting home. Poor little thing.  Hugs and prayers for you and your family!  Being sick is never any fun....for anyone.

He is 8 months old!

Great-nephew #2 was 8 months old on the 10th of June.  He weighs 23 pounds 6 ounces and is 27 and a half inches long.  He is such a sweet boy!

He just started crawling this past week, but was pulling himself up and creeping about before that.  And now that he is moving, he is sooooooo pleased with himself.  I love him to the moon and back again!

3 months old!

Our newest blessing was 3 months old on June 20th, and I had the privilege of taking care of her for just over an hour this afternoon while her Mommy and sister got their hair cut.  She was an absolute angel and was more than happy to let me click away!

She weighs 14 pounds 10 ounces.

And she is 24 and 5/8 inches long.  Her head circumference is 41 cm around and according to the health nurse who gave her her shots a couple of weeks ago, it is a perfect shape.  She is fitting into 6 month clothing, but at the rate she is growing, it won't be long before she is into the next size.  Doesn't want to stay little.  At all.  I know she has been holding her head up for awhile, but she is getting better and better at it every day.

She smiles and 'chats' a lot and it was fun to listen to all of her stories.  She is pretty mellow and is very good at eating and sleeping.  She still wakes up once during the night but that is after 8 hours, and is right back to sleep after feeding.  I really didn't think she looked like her Daddy when she was first born (everyone else did) but I can sure see it now.  Except for her blue eyes.  She really reminds me a lot of when he was a baby.  Except for her blue eyes.  Oh, did I already say that?  I find them fascinating.  They are really really blue and I know that her sisters' were too when she was this age, but never this blue.  It is hard to believe that she is 14 weeks old tomorrow.  Time is flying by and I love her to the moon and back again!

Our last Music class was today, until September.  And because a couple of my drop-ins came today, I really didn't take a lot of pictures like I usually do.  My baby is only 9 months old, so my camera didn't come out until the end.

This is one of our relaxation songs.  And I absolutely LOVE their expressions as they sang and breathed along with the music!  Such concentration!

They all learn a lot in 10 months.  I am always so impressed as to how much they retain, and how far they come in their listening.  Of course, one of their favourite parts is at the end when they do the parachute!

Our music class in June 2014.  This is the best that I got, and that is pretty good if you consider that all but one of twenty children are actually looking at the cameras.  There were four of us taking pictures, so I can honestly say that this is a success!  It was a fun year......and it sure went by fast!

We'll be back in September

We went to our last MyGym session until September.  As usual, it was fun and action-packed.  The children always have a wonderful time!

They all love to play!  I think back to a couple of years ago when the children were so little and they needed to be played with and attended to every second.  Not any more!  They are so independent now, and they just love to be with their friends.

The ball pit is always one of their favourite places to play.  And Circle Time will always be one of my favourite things to do with them!  As their caregiver, it is just so enjoyable to be the follower instead of the leader.

More fun times with the children.  At the end of every class, they run to the circle with great anticipation to see what song or story they are going to see and hear.  Don't you love the elephant puppet?  The children sure did!

Good-bye MyGym!  See you in September. We will miss you!  Julie and Jenn are so much fun!

Busy Sunday

I started out this morning at church, had a few minutes at home afterwards, and then we went to Jenelle's graduation ceremonies.  It was a beautiful sunny day and it is hard to believe that her 13 years of public education have come to an end.  She has a French exam tomorrow morning and then she is done!

I love it when school's have the cap and gown.  She looked lovely and her gold sash was because she was on the honour roll for all five years of high school.

Her grandparents came all the way from Ottawa for the occasion, which is very special!  My nephew was there because his girlfriend was graduating too, so it was fun to see him and say Hi!  After the ceremonies, we joined Jenelle and her family at Meadow Gardens for dinner and had an excellent roast beef buffet.  We all joked that we would be back next Sunday as it really was delicious.  We had a wonderful and busy day!

At 37 weeks and 3 days, Miracle #3 is considered full-term.  However, we really do know that it could be in the next day or two, or in a month.  We are still hoping for the former. The good news is that she is measuring 38 centimeters, which is down a half centimeter from 2 weeks ago.  This also means that the baby has dropped, which is also good news.  She had a doctor appointment yesterday.  She gained a kg, her Strep B test was negative and Baby's heartbeat was 130 bpm.  Everything is progressing in the right direction.  I think it is interesting that the fundal height was 38 centimeters at 31 weeks, and it is now the same at 38 weeks. I think that in comparing the two pictures above, she really does look smaller.  It is slight, and it really could just be the angle, but Baby is lower too.  All I know is that we are more than ready to meet our newest blessing.  #3 has been cleaning and sorting, and when we were over for Father's Day dinner on Sunday, it was fun to look at all the little tiny clothes that are just waiting for someone to come and wear them!

Wet Saturday

You know, it really has been a pretty decent Spring.  But for some reason or another, the three Saturdays that Grandson has had baseball, it has rained.  Today was his skills day and it was drizzly and cool.

Grandson and Sweetheart don't really like to be wet or cold, but they both put on cheery faces for me.

The children throw, hit, and run the bases in a quest for different colours of caps.  As you progress in your skill, you get a different colour.  Grandson received green which was the same as last year, and he was disappointed that it wasn't black because that was a different colour.  Until his Dad explained to him that green was better than black.  And then all was good again!  It was such a fun baseball season.....and over so fast!

Another fun evening!

I had a date with three of my grandchildren tonight.  We went to watch my niece's end of the year show.  She was in 8 dance numbers and we enjoyed every one of them.  Sweetheart actually fell asleep for just over half an hour....she told me, "I am just blinking."  And the next thing you know she was sound asleep....don't ask me how she slept through all the noise, she actually fell asleep during the ladies hip hop number and it was LOUD.  We all had so much fun, and were thoroughly entertained!  The girls kept saying, "this is a great show!" to one another, and Grandson really enjoyed the lyricals.  It will always amaze me how much talent these dancers of their dance routines won top honours out of over 7000 entries.  Amazing, really amazing!

Fun evening

It was a lovely evening for Grandson's last baseball game of the season.  The forecast was thundershowers but it was sunny and warm!  Cousin Sarah came to watch!

This is so sweet.  They are watching the 3 teams run the bases at the end of the game.  It isn't really a race....but it really is.  They smoked every other team out there tonight and Grandson was so excited.  Nope, he's not competitive.  Not at all.

And Sweetheart.  She comes to cheer for her brother, but really she comes to socialize and play.  I loved how she helped pick up the bases at the end of the game.

Pretty Girl

Pretty Girl and I spent a couple of hours together this afternoon and she was quite keen for me to take her picture.  We had a little photo shoot and she made me laugh when she told me, "See Grandma, this is my sassy pose!"  I took more than just her sassy pose, and we had a lot of fun.  She is growing up so fast!  At four years old she weighs 44 pounds and is a quarter of an inch past 43 inches tall.  She fits Size 6 with room to spare and she wears a Size 10 shoe.  Her favourite colour is purple and she enjoys playing dress-up.  She is full of energy and loves to play outside.  I love her to the moon and back again!

Working hard!

We have spent the last two days working on our Father's Day crafts.  And because I have so many part-timers, we will be doing this again tomorrow and the next day.  I love how serious all of the children look, and how much effort that they are putting into their projects. #3 was here today to help and we work really well together.  Chocolate making went way better today than yesterday....we should be experts by the end of the week!  Lol!

36 weeks!

What a difference a week makes!  As #3 will tell you, "we make giant babies!"  And usually I don't really notice the gradual change in her stomach from day to day or week to week.  Well, this week, I noticed.  I made a comment to her on Friday that it will be interesting to see how much she grew from 35 weeks to 36 weeks.  And here is the proof.  She grew.  We are praying for an early or on time delivery, preferably early.  As you can see, this baby is more than big enough......and because #3 is so uncomfortable, sooner than later would be nice!  She is finding it harder and harder to get around, especially in the late afternoon and evening hours.  I know we have no control on when this little one is going to arrive, but we are all very anxious to meet her!

Another graduation!

My very best friend from high school had twins 18 years ago.  And they graduated from high school today!  They had their ceremonies this morning; and their dinner, dance and dry grad is tonight.

It is an action-packed fun-filled day.  When we went over to their house this afternoon, they hadn't even come back from their hair appointments.  After getting dressed, they were rushing out the door to go and take pictures at the park before dinner so it was short and sweet!

And then my battery in my camera died, so these are all the pictures I even got.  I am really depending on everyone else to share!

Violet and I have been friends for 38 years.  We met in Grade 11 and had our first daughters 17 years apart.  But we've been through thick and thin.  I love that we were able to celebrate one more milestone together and I already know that there will be many more!  Here is the last picture I took before my camera said 'battery exhausted.' Three generations.  The twins with their mom and their grandma.

They make me smile

Abby came to play yesterday and the children were all so happy to see her!  She was happy to see them too!

I figured we should take some pictures of the cast as it is supposed to come off next week.

My two and three year olds!  They were having a lot of fun posing and laughing.  The first one is so funny because they all looked so serious.  And they really weren't.

This is my favourite. Their personalities are all shining through!

Just playin'

When we arrived home from Music class on Tuesday, the children decided to have their own class all over again.  Tai pulled out the musical instruments and they re-enacted what they had just learned.  I love imaginative play!

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

Well, as hard as I tried to make her smile, it didn't happen until her Mommy came and talked to her.  She just kept looking at my camera and making very cute expressions.  She certainly had me smiling, that's for sure.  Oh, how I love this baby girl!  And I still can't quite get over her bluer than blue eyes!

35 weeks!

Miracle #3 went to her 35 week check-up yesterday and it went really well!  Her tummy is definitely growing, and her fundal height is now at 38.5 centimeters.  Just over two weeks ago, she was measuring 36.5 centimeters so that was good too.  Because if you remember correctly, at 31 weeks she was measuring 38 centimeters.  It seems to depend a lot on the baby's position. Her blood pressure is good and she gained a kilogram.  Baby's head is down, heartbeat is 160 beats per minute, and according to the Doctor, Baby is a good size.  We are all really hoping that she is early, as #3 is very uncomfortable.  Pregnancy definitely loses its lustre the third time around.  I still think she looks great, and I am getting very excited to meet this new little person.  We all are, and hopefully it will be sooner than later!
