Another nice week

We have had a fabulous February, weather-wise.  The last time I remember February being this mild was when we had the 2010 Olympics, but it was pointed out to me by my friend that this year is warmer.  There isn't any snow on the local mountains.  At least in 2010, there was snow on the mountains.  This year, none.

When we went to pick up Tai from pre-school on Tuesday, the children all stopped to look at the flowers.  They have been paying very close attention to the crocuses, daffodils and tulips for the past few weeks and they love to stop and see how much they have have grown since the day before.    Photo-op!  They were all quite willing to pose for me.

It was a really nice day, and when we got home the boys played hockey while the girls sat on the riding toys and chatted for quite a while before we went in to have lunch.

It was a Pro-D day yesterday and Grandson really wanted to go to the dike.  So I joined Miracle #3 and her friend and we all had fun walking and running, and feeding the chickens. It was a great morning out!

11 months old

Sweet Pea was 11 months old on the 20th of February.  She is one of the happiest and smiliest babies that I know.  She weighs 21 pounds 6 ounces and is 29 and 1/4 inches long.  I think she is long and lean, and of all of our four grandchildren who have reached this age, she is the smallest.  She fits 12 month size clothes, but some of them are too short in the arms or legs.  Her mommy has requested 18 month size for her birthday, as she will be into them before we know it.

She has six teeth.  Two on the bottom and four on the top.  She eats anything and everything.....except for dairy as it causes her eczema to flare up.  She loves food and there isn't anything that she won't taste and inhale.  Now that her blonde hair has started to grow, it looks like it might be curly, but time will tell.  She has the recessive blue-eyed gene, so maybe she will have the recessive curly-haired gene as well.

She has mastered crawling and table walking. She will stand alone for a few seconds at a time, but the minute she figures out that she is not holding onto something, she sits down. Cute little baby girl and I love her to the moon and back again!

Our little planker

Baby went for her 6 month shot today (yes, we know she is almost 8 months old) and she weighs exactly 20 pounds and is 27 and 1/2 inches long.  This puts her at 85th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for height.  She fits 12 month clothing now, and I still think that she is little.  No, I know that she really isn't, but I still think she is.  She is definitely #3's littlest.

She planks.  A lot.  It is probably her very favourite position when she is down on the ground.  She started army crawling last Wednesday, February 18th, but she has to be pretty motivated for her to go across the floor.  She mostly pivots and planks.  Or goes into her cute little side pose.

Miracle #3 and her girls came over for dinner tonight.  Always so fun to see them and you would never know that Baby had a shot today.  She ate a great dinner of broccoli, rice and squash and was in a happy mood all evening.  I love her to the moon and back again!

Super Sunday

It was another beautiful day!  Grandson and Sweetheart slept over as Sweetheart has been asking for a few weeks to stay.  Grandson joined her and they were perfect little houseguests.  Sweetheart and I went to church this morning as Grandson had a hockey jamboree at the Coliseum this afternoon and he had to leave by 11.  Hubby and I took Sweetheart and we joined them for a little later.  Grandson scored two goals and it was very fun!  The Giants organization does an excellent job of hosting.........There are bouncy castles and slides, Tim Horton treats, facepainting and balloon art.  Grandson had a great time exploring the zamboni and he loved pretending to drive it.

We were invited for dinner at the G family's house and #3 made a chocolate peanut butter cheesecake for dessert in honour of my birthday which is in two days.  The children loved helping me blow out my candles and the cheesecake was delectable.  Such a fun day and it went by way too fast!

Sunny Saturday

It was another sunny day today and a couple of miracles phoned to ask if they could meet here this afternoon.  Sure, no problem.  The girls and I went for a walk, and the boys played some street hockey.

The neighbour came and gave Grandson some really nice barely-used goalie pads.  He took pity on our mis-matched very used ones, and then he also came over and gave him a couple of just-the-right-size golf clubs.  His son is 13 now and has out-grown both.  Needless to say, we were extremely grateful!  Grandson was elated!

This was totally unplanned.  I took a picture of Baby early in the afternoon.  And then took one of Sweetheart later on.  Cute little smiley sisters!

In the past week

The weather has been so lovely this month.  Yes, we have had rain.  But we have had a lot of sunshine too.  Makes it so nice to get outside and enjoy our local playgrounds.

We had our snack at the playground yesterday.  Stopped on our way home from Music class, and it was lots of fun!

We went for a walk on the dike this morning.  Again, it was so warm, and the children really enjoyed their time there.

Lovely day

We had a "love"ly Valentines Day.  We started out at the chiropractor where I got adjusted and Hubby didn't need to be this month.  Went home to let the repairman in, as we have been having issues with our fridge.....it turns out that it needs a new part that he had to order, so it will be fixed when the part comes in.

Hubby took me out to the White Spot for a late breakfast, we did a couple of errands and then I went to the ophthalmologist.  I needed dilation drops and that was at 1:30 pm.....they are just wearing off enough now so that I can actually see clearly.  My pressures were 18 for my right eye and 17 for the left, so that was good.  Not as good as they have been at previous visits but still fine.  Hubby and I went to Toys R Us as I have a four year old birthday party to attend tomorrow. It was Hockey Day in Canada today so there were free hockey cards to be picked up too.....so the visit to the toy store was twofold.  We also stopped at Mostly Music as they were also giving out free hockey cards. All the stores have different ones that they give out so because it was on our way home, we stopped.  It doesn't really take much to make a grown man happy on Hockey Day in Canada.  At least, my grown man, anyway.  Made a quick trip into Langley to get more free hockey cards at Wisers and then we went to Wah Wing for an early dinner.....it was soooooo delicious!  We got there before the crowds as it was pretty busy when we were leaving.  I just love Szechuan beans!

Our evening was quiet.  We watched a bit of the CalgaryVancouver game (Vancouver lost 3-2) and I did some laundry.  I can't believe how tired I am, but I think that it is partly because of my eyes being so light sensitive.  Time for me to get some sleep.....Good night!

A night out

We went to a wedding reception last night.  It was for a co-worker of Hubby's and it was very fun.  This couple actually got married on a cruise in the Caribbean in January, so their nautical theme and colours were very fitting.  And because of their Italian/Portuguese ethnicity, no expense was spared. I haven't been to this kind of bash for a long time (like more than 30 years ago, I am sure) and we were extremely well fed.  Lots of hot and cold appetizers....my personal favourite was the coconut shrimp, but the quiche and seafood tarts were pretty good too!   The meal started out with an antipasto dish of melon, raw veggies and prosciutto, then there was the pasta which was probably the best cannelloni I have ever had, and then we had roast beef dinners with garlic prawns, buns and green salad.  Dessert was wedding cake and fresh fruit, and there was also a candy bar. I really didn't think I would ever eat again as I was so stuffed.  And we left before the midnight buffet was served......so there was more food coming!
