14 months

Sweet Pea was 14 months old on the 20th of May.  She weighs 23 pounds 6 ounces and is 30 and a half inches tall.  I had the privilege of taking care of her for a couple of hours on Friday so her mom could take her sister to her kindergarten orientation.  And it is really hard to take a picture of her as she is always moving.  Even when she is sitting, she is quite engaged in what she is playing with, so isn't really too keen on looking up at me.

I love that her hair is growing a bit.....and it is quite fair, with a little bit of curl in the back.  She walks everywhere now......I think she has been walking, almost running since about 13 months.  It's really cute to watch her toddle about.  She has eight teeth and is working at getting those one year molars.  Pretty much everything goes into her mouth.  She fits 18 month size clothing and a size 5 shoe.  We had lots of fun on Friday......she is a very happy little girl with an easy going temperament.  I love her to the moon and back again!

It was a park day!

Library Storytime ended last Thursday, so #3 and I met at the park this morning.  There was a perfect cloud cover when we arrived, but when the sun came out, it got warm.

We all had so much fun, and our morning went by really fast!  Playing at the park with friends......it really doesn't get much better than that when you are 1, 3, 4 and 5.

Busy Kids

It has been a busy Spring.  I always remember being told that busy kids are happy kids. Well, the blessings have been busy.  And they are very happy!

Pretty Girl plays softball on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Hubby and I try to make it out as often as we can, and Sweetheart joined us tonight.  She was having fun with my camera and I think she took a fantastic picture of her cousin!  (Top left)

Grandson goes to Track and Field on Tuesdays and Thursdays.....it started last week and he LOVES it. So yes, that means he plays baseball on Mondays and Wednesdays, and has Track on Tues/Thurs. We brought Sweetheart back to her family after watching Pretty Girl play softball, and watched him run and jump hurdles.  Aren't they the cutest little hurdles that you ever did see?

Baby was showing us how well she can stand now.  She has been taking steps for the last week as well....can't really say she is walking yet, as the farthest she has ever gone is 12-15 steps but she is certainly trying.  I think it is fun to watch her get up in the middle of the room, or in this instance the middle of the track, and just stand and look so proud if herself.  We all keep wondering when she is actually going to officially go, but right now she is crawling pretty fast, so that is more efficient for the time being.

Holiday Monday

It was a gorgeous day yesterday......a little taste of Summer.  Grandson and Sweetheart had some fun with their new slip and slide.

And Sweetheart enjoyed one of her birthday presents out on the deck!  Thank-you to Auntie Kristy, Rich and Norah!

Party Time

Sweetheart had her birthday party this evening and she loved being the center of attention.  There were lots of family and friends in attendance, but there were lots missing too.  We had pizza and cake, and everyone had a wonderful time!

Seems funny that the party ended with a driveway hockey game....it started with all the boys and men, but the girls all got into it as well.  Turning four was lots of fun!

Fresh strawberries and a sleepover

We went across the river today and were very surprised to find fresh-picked local strawberries at Krause Farms.  And yes, they tasted as good as they looked.  We shared them with the blessings and they are completely devoured.

I had a eye appointment this afternoon.......I love that my ophthalmologist is open on Saturdays now.  And my eyes are good, the pressures were 15 in both, and I found out that I don't have glaucoma any more.   Ever since I had my cataracts removed in 2011, it has pretty much put the glaucoma into remission.  The Dr had a big explanation as to why this is happening, but I can honestly say I couldn't repeat what he told me if I tried.  All I remember is that I am what is called glaucoma-suspect, which means that they are always watching for it, but I don't have any symptoms.  Any more.

I came home and three of the blessings had been dropped off to their Grandpa so that their parents could join friends at a Whitecaps game.  And Grandson was so excited because Baby was going to sleep over too.  She has done amazing so far, but the night is still young. It helps that she has slept right through the last four nights.....here is hoping and praying that she does it again.

Both girls were sound asleep by 8:05 and Grandson stayed up until 9:30.  Aren't they all so precious?

Happy 4th Birthday!

Sweetheart is four years old today!  She has to wait for the weekend for her family party, but her actual day was still lots of fun.  She had cake with her daycare friends this morning......by request, she wanted a chocolate cake with white icing and real strawberries.  Her Daddy started a tradition last year and he brought her some flowers when he came home for lunch.

She had her first mani-pedi and was a little bit unsure, but she really enjoyed it once she understood what was going on.  Her brother played baseball tonight and her sister loved giving her birthday kisses.

Sweetheart weighs 40.4 pounds and is 41 inches tall.  She fits into most of her Size 4 clothes, but we all buy her Size 5 for extra room.  She got new shoes on the weekend and they are Size 12.

She loves that she has grown big enough to fit into a booster seat.....it is like a rite of passage.  She started pre-school at the beginning of April and is loving it.  She is such a girly girl and loves everything to do with princesses and dressing up.  She has requested dolls, Barbies, Polly Pockets, Calico Critters and Playmobil for her birthday but she loves crafts and clothes too.  Let's face it, she would be happy with most anything.  I love her to the moon and back again!

They're back!

My great-nephews started back at Daycare yesterday and I am pleased to say that their transition has been very smooth.  It is like 19 months never really passed.  It certainly helps that everyone knows everyone, but the littlest one is kind of shy, so I was a little bit concerned. I guess I didn't really have to be......all he does is play and smile.  Or smile and play.

The children love to play outside.  I took a bunch of candid shots, as they were running races and playing tag.  I love the group hug!

And then I tried to pose them.  All I got told was, "too bright, it's too bright!"  Except for the little 19 month old.  He was the most cooperative of all.  Lol!

As you can see, he is happy to be here!

Ten months old!

Baby is 10 months old today.  I often tell people that she didn't get the memo that she is a third baby.  Kind of needy, and most third babies are more complacent.  She is like a first.  That being said, she has had a pretty good week.  Sleep training has definitely helped her disposition. That, and she has been feeling better.  She was sick for almost the entire month of April.

She doesn't sleep through every night......as a matter of fact, I think she has only done it once or twice.  But when she does wake up, she really only whines until her Mommy comforts her for a few minutes and she is right back to sleep again.  Tops, 3 minutes.......and she is happy to go back into her crib.  Better than before but still not perfect.  The amount of times that she wakes up varies, one or two times is average, but she did one of those wake up every half an hour nights on Tuesday.  Bless her little heart.

In the day, her morning nap has extended into an hour and a half to two hours and that is so nice.  For everyone.  Afternoon nap is shorter, usually at most it is an hour, but the best part is that she is in her crib.  No more rocking or nursing to sleep......she goes into her crib on her tummy, sometimes she cries for a minute or two, but mostly she just goes to sleep. She kind of moans as she is heading into dreamland......it is cute to listen to.  And for the most part, she wakes up fairly happy now too.

This girl LOVES to eat.  She never liked the puréed texture of baby food, so she just gets small cut up pieces of everything and anything. And she will eat anything you give her.  Here she is, shoveling in the multi-grain Cheerios like they were candy.  Apparently she gets plain ones at home, so to her, they really were like candy.

She maneuvers these two little steps in her house very efficiently.  And yes, she crawls down them head-first, but it works for her.  The carpet cushions her so she doesn't hurt herself, and she really does brace herself with her arms.  She is getting more and more confident at standing and on more than one occasion, she has taken one step and then fallen down onto her bum.  She is definitely the most determined of #3's three children. At this age, anyway.  I love her to the moon and back again!

The boys

My great-nephews are growing up.  At 4 and a half and 1 and a half, they are looking very handsome at the Aquarium on the weekend.  Looks like a whole lot of fun!

A rainbow and baseball

I guess it wouldn't be ball season without some rain, but last night it rained, it stopped, it sprinkled, it stopped. And rained some more. The sun even came out for a bit.  It never really ever poured on us.....the umbrellas were out and it was a bit chilly, but they played their two innings and everyone had lots of fun!

Grandson is #2, and he and his buddies were very excited when the rainbow appeared.

From last Sunday

The days go by so fast.  So do the weeks.  These two blessings and I had so much fun walking on the dike last week.

Friday night

So this is what I did tonight.  I spent a couple of hours on the website called how-old.net.  I had a lot of fun plugging in pictures and letting a machine tell me how old I look.  I did it with a lot of family and friends too.  And I spent way too much time amusing myself with what it told me.

I really do know that I don't look 40, 39 or 37 but I was really flattered.  I don't have very many pictures of me, so there isn't a lot to choose from.  The oldest I got was 51 in one picture which I truly do think is fairly accurate.  Of the 7 or 8 pictures that I was able to use, 3 had me at 44 or 45, which is still very flattering.  The majority of people who I checked were within a five year span of their actual age.  On some people, the age was sooooooooo not true, but that was only a few.  I had a good laugh at the one my friend put up on Facebook that said she was an 86 year old man.  She is a 36 year old woman.

This website is very entertaining and kind of fun if you have time on your hands. But it can be addicting.  Don't say I didn't warn you.
