We were invited for a swim tonight in Corinna's pool.  The blessings were soooooo excited, especially the older two.

Grandson is feeling rather confident in the deep end now that he has taken swimming lessons.  He is getting better and better all the time, and loved jumping off of the diving board.

And Sweet Pea loved going in the pool.  Baby, not so much.  She wasn't so sure at first, but got more and more comfortable as the evening progressed.  Her expression sort of tells it like it is.

These girls have big personalities.  They are really funny to watch and to listen to.

And they were very pleased that they were wearing the same tops.  "Climb up here" said Pretty Girl to Sweetheart, "and then we will be taller."  Swimming was way too fun, and they can all hardly wait to go back.

So exciting!

My friend's daughter got engaged yesterday!  She is in Berlin with her sisters, brother-in-law and now fiancĂ©, so it is very exciting!  Congratulations Nicole and Travis!  Let the plans begin!

This morning

Miracle #3 and I are on a mission to find all the shady parks in Maple Ridge this Summer.  We found another one today, and the children were more than happy to spend some time playing with their friends.

The big ones preferred to play soccer rather than go on the playground equipment.  Lots of running, but no one complained.

Three of my newly graduated pre-schoolers are very ready to go to kindergarten in the Fall.  They are really good buddies and are even going to the same school.

I really appreciate how well all these guys get along.  They don't really see each other very often, but when they do, it is like no time has elapsed.  I am very blessed to care for really wonderful children who come from really wonderful families. Of course, I am just a little bit biased.....

New Baby

I went to a baby shower this afternoon, for one of my very best friend's daughter and her son.   Joshua Dean was born on May 14th, weighing 9 pounds 3 ounces and I was feeling very blessed to meet him today.  He slept most of the afternoon away, and his Mommy opened some beautiful gifts.

Little sleepyhead......isn't he precious?  I just loved holding him and enjoying his newness.  He is a very contented little guy, and is giving his Mommy lots of rest.

We had a very busy day yesterday.  I have needed a new phone for awhile now, but have been procrastinating the job because I knew that I would be overwhelmed with all the new technology.  I was right.  So in between my wonderful lunch date and our dinner plans, I headed to the phone store.  And I was right......it was overwhelming.

I went by myself the first time, and ended up coming home with information to share with Hubby.  I needed to process my needs and my wants, and I also needed Hubby to come with me to help make my decision.  So I came home with lots of information and took him back with me to make my purchase.  Well, I now have a brand new iPhone and a brand new iPad.  Lucky me!  With all the promotions that Telus had until the end of the month, this actually made more sense than getting just a phone.  And I know it is a lot in the wording and how the contract is presented, but I have more than what I actually needed and everything I wanted.  And I think I will probably use my phone more, just because of the new options.  And I know for a fact that I will use my new iPad Air A LOT

I took these pictures on my new phone and I still have LOTS to learn, but we sure had fun last night celebrating this young man's graduation.  He is off to university in the Fall to study Business and it was so enjoyable to see him and his family again. We probably spent more time with his beautiful sister as he was quite occupied with his friends, but it sure was a great night, even with the incredible heat and the biting mosquitoes.  Lol.

We have had a really sunny Spring.  The grass at the park already looks like it does in August and it isn't even July yet.  And it is looking to be a really sunny Summer.  It is already 27 degrees outside and it is only 9 am. The forecast for the next few days is sunny and hot.  I am very grateful for air conditioning.  It is really the only thing that makes me able to cope when it gets like this.  And there is no end in sight!

The children love running up and down the hills.  And yesterday morning wasn't as hot as this morning.  Definitely warm in the sunshine but the shade and the breeze were heavenly.

Baby had lots of fun wandering about.  She is pretty good about not putting everything in her mouth.  She still does it, but not all the time.......and if you ask her to stick out her tongue, then she will give you whatever she has.  We were happy that her Grandpa was able to join us yesterday.  He has 10 days off, and we are all very happy about that!  He wasn't really planning on joining us at the park, but Sweetheart is very convincing.

The twins have been with me since January of 2014 and it was their last day at Daycare yesterday. I am going to miss them, but the nice part is that they live really close so I will still see them.  I have been invited over for lunch today, and we have a barbecue to attend tonight so it will be a very social Saturday!

Summer Vacation

I met #3 at the park today.  We have a few favourites that are shady and cool in the morning, and this is one of them.  Who is as astounded as me that I told 11 children to go sit on the hill and they did?  And then all 11 looked at the camera.  Most of them even smiled.  Not a perfect picture, but I was so surprised that they are all looking at me!

Of course, we were missing Baby.  Once we added her into the mix, well, then all 12 never did all look at me at the same time........

But 11 out of 12 isn't really too bad.  I am looking forward to lots more mornings just like this one.  Summer vacation has officially begun!!!  Kids are out of school and we can be footloose and carefree.  Yay!

Family night

The whole gang was here for dinner last night and it was very nice to see everyone in the same place at the same time.  We ordered pizza and I cooked some chicken strips, so it was an easy dinner for me.  Easy clean-up too, for Hubby.  SIL and Grandson headed out at 6 for skating lessons and the rest of us spent our time on our little tiny sundeck watching babies play.

Toddlers don't ever stop moving.  Ever.  So as hard as I tried, I never did get a picture of the two littlest blessings together, looking at me.  It was fun to watch them interact.  It is a lot of parallel play at this point in their lives, but I am sure that they will be very good friends as they get older.

Last day of Grade 1

School is out for the Summer.  I cannot believe that Grandson is going into Grade 2.  He had an excellent year and received an excellent report card.  He looks very grown up in these pictures.  His one front tooth (on the right side) has finally started to come in.....shouldn't be too long before the left one appears as well.  That took 6 months from the time the first one fell out!

He is 65 pounds and is 52 inches tall.  He has gained an inch and almost a pound since his birthday which was less than 3 months ago.  He has gained a whole shoe size too, as he is measuring a Size 3.  He is a big healthy boy and is addicted to sports right now.  If he can't play them, then he wants to watch them on TV.  He is really enjoying the Women's soccer and was quite excited on Sunday when Canada beat Switzerland 1-0.  Hey, he was watching volleyball on Saturday night and loved that too.  Cuba beat Canada 15-12 at the PanAm games and he was cheering for Canada with Uncle Ken and Sean.

Tonight is his first skating lesson for the summer and Track and Field ends tomorrow.  We are having our first Family night dinner in 10 weeks as Baseball season deterred us for a while.  It will be fun to see the whole gang again!

Last class until September

We had our last MyGym class yesterday morning, until September. A fun time was had by all!

Baby likes to climb.  A lot.  And so far she has no fear......oh dear.

I LOVE Circle Time.  I especially love watching the children's observations and reactions.  My two toddlers are 20 and 21 months.  Sometimes they get right into it and participate.  And sometimes they don't.  They both have calm placid personalities and I always enjoy their cooperation.  On this particular morning, Isaac followed every direction until the very end and then he refused to join into Tummy Time.  But he was more than happy to watch.  Fara has just started to join in......up until this month, she has just watched everyone else sing and do actions.....now she is a pro.  So fun to watch their little personalities develop.

The puppet show at the end had everyone's attention.  Bye bye MyGym, see you in a couple of months!

Busy Weekend!

It was a busy weekend!  It started out on Friday night as I went shopping with #3.  We went to Coquitlam, and she had lots to do so we were a couple of hours.

We were at the ball field at 9 am Saturday morning, we ended up taking Baby home with us so she could get a morning nap in.......she slept from 11 until 2, so she obviously needed it. Grandson and Sweetheart were here shortly after 2 as their parents were off to a wedding, and we picked up Miracle #4 with the 3 blessings and headed out to Mission around 3:30.

My SIL and BIL had a surprise 30th birthday celebration for #4, and he was very surprised.  It was something that they decided a few months ago that they wanted to do for him, and I thought it was very sweet of them.  Family gatherings have become fewer and farther between as the cousins have gotten older.  We were still missing #1, #3 and SIL, but no matter what, there always seems to be someone missing.

My SIL always has decorations.  Sweetheart was very impressed.  (And yes, we know that a piece of his cake was smushed. Apparently, there was a mishap and something fell on it.  Oops, it still tasted great!)

Auntie Pat decided to have a bar theme.....no one was expecting him to be unable to drink because of his medication. So he received some liquor and some money.  Always appreciated, and he is very thankful.

I love this picture of some very important men in my life, holding some very special babies....I have a few other important men too, but these ones just happened to be standing together and it was a perfect photo-op.

The kids went up on the roof of the goat pen and they were soooooo excited!  A few of them kept saying, "This is just the best day ever!"

And after a 'swim' in the hot tub, they were all still exclaiming about what fun they were having.  Happy Birthday Uncle Bryan, your nieces and nephews (plus 2 extras) had an absolute blast!

We headed home just after 8 as #4 had to work in the morning and we had the 3 blessings for a sleepover.  They did great, Baby fell asleep on the ride home and the other two were tucked in just before 10.  Baby woke up once, but every one slept until 8:45 Sunday morning, so we can't complain.

The blessings left around 11:30 Sunday morning, Hubby and I went grocery shopping and to Langley to pick up pies, we did a quick pit stop in Coquitlam to see my Dad, and then headed over to the G house for Father's Day dinner.  Busy, busy day.  Busy, busy weekend.  Hard to believe it is already Monday morning!

Closing Day at Baseball

We just got back from another morning at the ball field. And the boys are finished for another season.  The Athletics practiced their skills and they are graded on their abilities. Which we don't really all agree with, but it is baseball after all. And as much as our world tries to teach us that it is all about having fun and learning how to play the game, it is still competitive. The colours of their hats show what level they are at......red being the highest, then blue, green and black.  The boys all did so well!

Every year, all of the coaches are asked to vote for Coach of the Year.  It's based on how you coach, but also on how you treat the boys, how you treat the other teams, what you teach, how you teach etc.  It is a great honour and we are very proud of SIL as he won it for this year.  He was very surprised and so humble.

And we have a walker.  For about a week now, she has been going pretty good.....she still looks unsteady at times, but she does really well.  If she falls down, she gets right back up again, so I guess that it is official!

Just hanging out

It isn't really easy to take pictures of the two youngest blessings as they move around so much.  So when Baby was sitting at her brother's ball game the other night, I seized an opportunity.

Just hanging out with her spits at baseball.  She loved the feel and sound of the plastic bag.

She loves watching the birds and the planes in the sky.  And yeah, it is really hard to get her to look at me.  And smile at the same time.

Trophy night

I missed Grandson's last baseball game of the season tonight as I was invited out for dinner with a friend.  Just got home and found these pictures from #3 in my email.  The boys had a wonderful game and Grandson got a home run so he was elated.

The Athletics Super T team, Spring 2015.  They are so proud!  Great season, boys!!

Happy 30th Birthday!

Miracle #4 turned 30 today. Seriously.  I don't understand how this can be possible that all six of my children are 30+.  But they are.  And it happened with very little fanfare.  He worked all day, came to Grandson's baseball game and then we took him out for ice cream.  He had never been to Menchie's, and he enjoyed it very much.  (That is a $9 bowl of frozen yogurt, FYI)

I think he looks pretty good for someone who suffered a seizure on Friday night and ended up in Emergency for a few hours.  Again.  Although this was different from just over a year ago, he still traveled by ambulance, got checked out and released, and still doesn't have a diagnosis.  He did get put on Dilantin this time which is an anti-seizure medication and he will have to go to a neurologist.  Again.  I feel like we just did all this ten months ago (because we did) and everything came back negative. Obviously there is something wrong.  We just don't know what.  So until we get to the bottom of this, he will take his meds, hopefully take better care of himself....he doesn't eat properly.....he eats, and quite healthily when he does, but he definitely skips meals.  He has been very diligent for the last 3 days, so that is good.  Dilantin makes him really tired, but then so does a seizure, so we had him home before 8 o'clock and he said he was headed to bed.  There will be more celebrating in the future when he is feeling better.

This was Grandson's cheering committee tonight.  He had quite a crowd come out to watch him!  Lots of family and friends to love and support, and as hard as he tried to give us all a home run, he had a couple of really good base hits.  Great night for baseball and a great night to celebrate #4 turning 30!

Fun day!

You couldn't have asked for a better day for the closing day for softball.....It was 24 degrees with a nice breeze.  Pretty Girl loved her last game, and it is really neat to see how far that the team has progressed in just over two months.  Pretty Girl loved playing softball and is an excellent little ball player.  She really excels at throwing the ball, but is a very good hitter too!

She was so pleased and proud to get her medal!  And more than happy to show it off to me.

We went to watch Emmi in her dance recital tonight.  It is her grad year, so it is her last and she was in 9 out of the 40 numbers.  Before the recital, Pretty Girl and I had a picnic in the park and she played at the playground for a bit.  We had such a wonderful time!  I love her to the moon and back again!

Another day at the park

It has been a beautiful week.  Started out really hot on the weekend and has slowly gone down in temperature as the week has progressed.  It was actually quite cool when we arrived at Maple Ridge Park this morning and we had the playground almost to ourselves for the first hour.  We all had so much fun!

We headed down to the river when the playground got crowded and everyone had fun down there too.  I got the easy job of holding the sleeping baby on the bench while everyone else played.  We really do live in such a beautiful city!

A couple of special families

I have been taking care of children for a lot of years.  And these are families who have touched my life.  You know how you can connect with certain people, and you just click. Well, these are very special families who gave me the privilege of taking care of their children when they were pre-school and early school-aged years.  I have kept in touch with both families through Facebook and Christmas cards, and I can't believe that they are graduating from high school.  Already.  Life goes by way too fast!

Judy, Justin, Tara, Keith and Kevin.  I took care of Tara from the time she was two until she was seven.  She came very part-time because her Mom worked shift work at Save-On.  Always a little sweetheart and she has grown up into a beautiful young lady!

Sharon, Graeme, Brent and Naomi.  Another family who needed me very part-time.  The kids were three and five when they came to me and stopped coming when they were seven and nine, as their mom is a nurse and she changed her afternoon shift to day shift.  I am still in awe of how tall Naomi got.  As her mom says, "one of these is not like the other."
