Beautiful morning

We have had the most beautiful few days, weather-wise.  It is chilly in the morning (7 to 11 degrees), but around 10 o'clock, the sun becomes warmer and by 2 in the afternoon, it is hot.  Around 22 to 25 degrees hot.

So we enjoyed another morning along the river in Pitt Meadows. These sweet little four year olds were very excited to explore.

We brought some snacks and enjoyed them on the bench overlooking the Fraser River.  Jolt, the little dog liked us a lot and kept coming over to visit.  The children thought that was fun!

We really do live in such a beautiful place.  I know I say that a lot, but it is so true.

Abby was impressed that she could see the Golden Ears bridge.  All the children really enjoyed the water and the view.  Quite spectacular, don't you think?

And this girl cracks me up.  All I say to her is "Picture time" and this is what she does.  Miracle #3 claims she does not know where she has learned how to do this.  Her only guess is Barbie shows?  All I know is, she is a natural!

I like how Isaac is copying his cousin. Sorry Shannon and JP, but I am sure he won't do it as often as Sweetheart. Lol.

Cooperation and Teamwork

As I was scrolling through pictures tonight, this one caught my eye.  I remember making it with my Pic-Stitch app in the Spring and saving it for a blogpost one day.  Oh, if you only knew how many more posts that I write in my head that never make it to the computer, it is kind of mind-boggling. It is no wonder that I need theanine. I really do think too much!  Lol.   I know a lot of people don't appreciate technology as much as others, and I know that some people love it!  Well, I am one of those people who kind of stands on middle ground. Most of the time.  And sometimes I really do love it!

On this particular afternoon, these three 3 year olds and one freshly turned 4 year old were playing Letter School on the IPad.  Now as much as I don't love technology, I LOVE this app.  A teacher friend of #3's told me about it, as it one of the ones that she uses in her kindergarten class.  It is a fabulous app, and it was the best $4.99 I ever spent on an app.  As a matter of fact, I think it is the most that I have ever spent on an app.  (Every other one has been free or 99 cents, maybe $1.99) And it is worth every penny.  Sweetheart has totally mastered her letters on it, and she was showing all of her friends how it works.  She was so encouraging.  And so excited when anyone succeeded.  It was really cute to watch and listen to.  Sweetheart really did jump up and down and cheer every time someone got the letter.  Gosh, I love these kids!

Good night

More Lunar Eclipse

My friend Val, posted these pictures on Facebook and I really think that they are worth sharing.

The sunset before the actual eclipse was nothing short of amazing.

This is the moon that I saw last night.  Val went to the dike to take photographs, whereas I stayed in my cul-de-sac.  We had to wait until the moon came over the houses, but this was what I saw as soon as I could see.
And as time progressed, this is what happened.  It really was interesting to observe.

You could almost see the brightness appear on the underside of the moon. It happened rather quickly when it actually started.

It really is amazing.  And now we won't get to see one for another 20-30 years.  That just makes it that much more special!

And another friend posted this photograph. Again, it was absolutely remarkable to watch!

Lunar Eclipse

There was a lunar eclipse last night.  And in true 205th Street fashion, Leslie and Rob brought out their propane campfire, and we had a social evening.  So much fun!  I really do love my neighbours!

Unfortunately, Hubby got the stomach bug that has been plaguing the blessings and the Daycare children, so he wasn't able to join us.  But I really am in this picture, I can see me perfectly! (Although, I guess I am a little bit shadowed and in the dark)

The moon was beautiful.  It took awhile before it was high enough in the sky to see it, but it was definitely worth waiting for.

My Tai

Tai is four years old today.  I still remember when he came into this world, it was the evening of September 27th, 2011.  His Mom actually had the flu and all of her vomiting put her into labour.  It was her third baby......lots of people are unaware of his beautiful sister who is almost 24....and everything went rather well, considering his Mom was so ill.  I find it rather ironic that Tai himself, was sick with the flu yesterday, the day before his actual birthday. It was a real Pukefest this week, with daycare children and blessings, but I digress. Welcome to September!!

My little four year old wonder has absolutely no fear.  Like, when I think of all of the shenanigans he has gotten into, well, I just think that I should have a medal for keeping him alive.  This was the boy who could crawl at 5 months old. He could pull himself up onto furniture but he had no balance or depth perception, so you really had to be with him every second. Like, really, every single second!  The one true gift he really has is gross motor skill and his ability to climb.  He used to climb onto my couch at 14 months and jump off and land onto his feet.  He was balancing on a scooter at 2 and riding a two-wheeler at 3.

He is so helpful and kind.  And he is always there to cheer on a little one or help them up or down.  When we were at the park on Wednesday, he was so helpful and encouraging to little Sweet Pea.

I took him to the local airport for lunch, as it was just me and him.  He was duly impressed, but all he really wanted to do was go back to Miracle #3's house to play.

So that is what we did.  We weren't there very long before we had to pick up the big boys, and that made him very happy.  He is always moving.  Dancing, running and skipping are his ways of moving.  All. The. Time.  He is such a happy four year old, and I feel very privileged to be his caregiver.  Happy Birthday Sweet Boy......we love you to the moon and back again!

Food Truck Festival

Hubby and I headed to the Albion Fairgrounds this morning to partake in the Fraser Valley Food Truck Festival.  It did not disappoint. And it's a good thing we went early.  As cloudy as it was, parking was at a premium and the showers that sprinkled on us did not keep anyone away.

It wasn't overly crowded when we arrived, but by the time we left just after one, it was like we were at the PNE.  I had the prawn poor boy from Hunger Management and Hubby had a wild salmon burger from Mama's Fish and Chips.  We also tried the pyrogies and sausage from Old Country Pierogi, and cannoli from The Cannoli King.  Delicious!  All of it!  And I absolutely love love love cannoli. Who knew?

We ran into a lot of people we knew, but Maple Ridge really feels like a small town, especially as I get older.  We saw my nephew and his girlfriend (who recommended the cannoli, thank-you Brittany), and lots of past acquaintances from softball, school and Daycare.  It was a very fun couple of hours!!

Spider-Man and a princess

I took Spider-Man and a princess to the pre-school today.  Sweet Pea rode along in the stroller, and she was very impressed with Ethan and Kara.

These two children are born in the same year and actually attend the same pre-school class. Ethan was three in March and Kara will be three in November. You would never know it by looking at them or listening to them.

I think it is really nice that they are becoming friends.  And yes, Ethan is really tall for his age.....and I think that Kara is fairly average.

The children could not figure out what was in the planter.  I am going to guess it was some type of tuberous flower bulb, but I really don't know.  It sure intrigued my 2, 3 and 4 year olds, that's for sure.

Tai had Sweet Pea laughing all the way home.  He is pretty theatrical at the best of times, and it was pretty cute to listen to them.

And yeah, this is Ethan.  He took off his mask and put it back on again.  His way.  I really like the little tuft of hair sticking out the top.  I guess I need to pull out my sewing kit and stitch it up, but you know, I really kind of like the sticking-out-hair look.  Lol.  Oh these kids.....they make me smile.  A lot!

Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea is 18 months old. And yesterday morning, she ended up being my only child in care.  We spent a couple of hours with her cousins and then she and I came home for lunch and a diaper change before we had to go get Tai from pre-school.

So we had a little game of "Chase me Grandma as I run around the van!"

And she was very fun to sit with while she had something to eat.  Lots of 'chatting' and making faces!

I love how she is getting more and more hair.  And I especially love the one lone curl in the back.

We stopped at the little park by her house before we dropped her off at noon to her Mommy who was at home sick with the flu.  Her sister was there too, and everyone was starting to feel better after being ill during the night.  #2 had gotten off early to take care of his family, and Sweet Pea was headed for her usual afternoon nap.  She and her Daddy seemed to have dodged a bullet this time around, as she was here all day today being her happy self.  She is definitely teething so is eating a little less, and more soft foods; but she is doing great. Working very hard on getting her last three eye teeth, but is quite happy and easy going for the most part!  She really is a very contented toddler.

So much fun!

Miracle #3 and I picked up our children from school yesterday and we met at the intermediate playground so that our children could enjoy the sunshine and some play time.  Grandson's friend is 42 years old.  I admire her. A lot!  She really is one of his best friend's Mom, and is one of the sweetest, kindest most caring person that I have ever met.  And I love how she will go and play with the children when asked!

Grandson was very pleased with himself when he climbed to the top!  Everyone was having so much fun!

Our river walk

It started out quite cool this morning, but as soon as the sun came out, it was lovely.  I had an interesting group today, as two school-agers came at 6:45, I picked up Tai on the way to school at 8:05, and then Sweet Pea met us at Miracle #3's where we met and walked our group to school. I dropped off my two, then I took Tai to school and met #3 at Osprey Village with Sweet Pea.  It was weird to only be taking care of only one little one, but I really did have three away.

Sweetheart was so excited to go for a nature walk, and was more than happy to strike a pose for me.

She is such a good little adventurer.  She has a very sweet personality, and is always fun to take places.  And she has a very good memory......the first thing she said when we arrived was that she remembered going there to hip-hop dancing.  Like really, it was last Summer....over a year ago...a quarter of her lifetime ago.

This is our brave little blessing. Absolutely no fear in this cute little 14 and a half month old!  Isn't she just the sweetest?  She reminds me so much of her Mommy at the same age.

And this sweet little blessing reminds me so much of her Daddy at the same age.  I know that she is quite adventurous when she is comfortable in her surroundings, but when she isn't sure, she definitely scopes it out and doesn't rush right in.  Such a little love, and she certainly makes my job a lot easier than Baby makes it for #3.

Aren't they just the most beautiful toddlers you ever saw?  Such gorgeous, sweet, fair-haired cousins.

If you look at Baby's face, she is smiling very broadly at what her family and Brennan were up to.  #3 noticed that you could see through the cracks in the deck, so everyone was looking at logs, sticks and sand.  Sweet Pea and I were smiling just as broadly on the other side.  Gosh, I love these the moon and back again!
