Well, it was supposed to rain all day and night, but it didn't.  We had another torrential downpour all morning, it dissipated by noon, started raining again by 3 and finished up just after 4. And it hasn't rained all evening. Our first little trick or treaters arrived while it was still light out at 5:40, and then we didn't get any more until almost 6:30. And they were all scattered throughout the evening, coming every 10 or 15 minutes.  We got a whole bunch (like 20) just before 7:30 and then a few more closer to 8.  All totalled, there were 48.  I talked to #3 and they got 69. #2 got 50.  I think it was a very slow Halloween night.

Here is the jack-o'lantern that Hubby carved while I was out getting my hair done this afternoon. I think he did great!

We did a Costco shop around 4, came home and put the shepherds pie in the oven, ate dinner, tended to the door, and went out again at 8 to get the Superstore shopping done.  We stopped by and saw Darlene and Jenelle because it was on the way, and they had better candy than us, and fewer children.  They also had awesome decorations that Jenelle said she worked very hard on.  They gave me some caramilk bars and we were on our way.

And this is what Superstore looks like at 8:46 on Halloween night.  I think we were two of ten people in the store. Seriously. We have been before on a Saturday night and were probably two of twenty, but it definitely was a good night to get our groceries.  There were only 3 tills operating, but that didn't matter at all.

Miracle #2 sent a picture of the girls over around dinner time and I think that our garden gnome and Little Red Riding Hood look so precious.  Haven't heard but I am guessing that they had a fun evening.

The rest of today

The torrential rain from this morning stopped around noon and it ended up being overcast for the rest of the day.

So when we went to pick up Pretty Girl from school, all of the little guys were able to play at the stump-roundie for a short while.

This is Pretty Girl's awesome Halloween costume that her Mommy made for her.  Cutest Little Red Riding Hood that I ever did see!

And when we went to pick up Sweetheart from pre-school, this funny guy from Big Hero 6 was waiting to pick up his daughter.  Pretty Girl was the only one of my children who was willing to pose for a picture with him.

Tai has been asking to go for a chicken walk all week, ever since he knew that Mila and Fara went with their Mom on Monday.  The weather was finally okay enough for us to go, but we didn't have too much time so we went for a chicken drive-by.  It was unfortunate that the food container was missing so I had a couple of disappointed four year olds, but they certainly made the best of it.  It just means that we will have to go back soon.

We dropped off Sweetheart at her house on our way back from the dike and Grandson was still in his costume that he wore to school. Top right is from this morning, where he had his Superman hair-do more in tact.  Doesn't he look great with the decorated outside of his house?

Pre-Halloween Fun

Miracle #3 made a witches brew for her children this morning and my daycare children and I were invited to join her.

When I took Grandson to school this morning, I literally walked right past my sister in the crosswalk.  She had Isaac in the stroller on this soaking wet morning, and she had just dropped her grandson off at school too.  So I invited her to join us at #3's.

It was so nice to get a little visit in, and as usual, #3 outdid herself.

Don't you absolutely love some of our snacks?  We had witches brooms made from pretzel sticks and chocolate, cheese strings and cheezies too. The children loved it all!

I left to go get Tai from school just as Sweetheart had finished getting ready for school. Cutest little Wonder Woman that I ever did see!

My afternoon

Halloween decorations seem to be getting more and more popular with each passing year. Sweetheart and I decided that we like the cute fun pumpkin and spider houses.  We really don't like the ghoulish skeleton and dead body ones.  Even Baby will point and say, "Ewwwww."

But that didn't stop any of them from walking down to visit one of my neighbour's houses and wanting to have a little look-see.  To be honest, it is quite tame in comparison to some houses that we pass by.

This was picture time with a five year old, two-four year olds, a two year old and two-one year olds.  I think that they are funny!

Baby decided that she was not going to stay with the other children. Sweetheart chased her down and tried so hard, but there was no way that she was gonna do this.

See?  She was on a mission to be as non-compliant as possible.

And so we all went home.  My two little toddlers went walking down the road while my other little rule-followers were on the sidewalk where they knew they were supposed to be.  This is where I was calling out to the little ones to move over and be safe.  Sweet Pea is actually paying attention.

And she took her cousin's hand (who surprisingly allowed her to) and they toddled up to my driveway. Their specific instructions were to be safe, hold hands, you need a walking buddy and you need to take care of each other. And so they did!  Aren't they the cutest little blessings that you ever did see?

My morning

The monsoons have arrived. It was unbelievable to listen to it around 7 o'clock this morning, but by 8:15, the rain had totally stopped.  Miracle #3 watched the littles while I took the school-agers to school.

Look at those happy smiling children. I envy every single one of their teachers. They are all such great kids who I love sooooooooo much!

These boys were having so much fun at #3's house!  Tai and Isaac were so excited to stay and play!

These two!  They just love each other so much, and I know this is blurry but I love their expressions.

We always play with the toys before Storytime begins.  Sweetheart was loving all the new puppets.

"Head and shoulders, knees and toes. Eyes, ears, mouth and nose."  Aren't they all simply adorable?

New car!

Around ten years ago, my uncle phoned Hubby and told him that he had a 1972 Pontiac that he was going to give him when he dies.  For some reason, a lot of people think that Hubby loves cars because he works for a car company.  Not true.  I mean, he likes them but certainly doesn't love them like one would think.

Anyway, my uncle passed away on Sunday, and my Dad called to tell him that he now owns a Grand Am.  We have never even seen it, as it has been in storage forever, and we really didn't even know if it was really true. People say things and don't mean them all the time. Well, I guess it's true. This is his new car. I guess it actually runs, as my other uncle fired it up. Happy 60th Birthday!  I wish we could actually be thrilled about it!  But it sort of just looks like a make work project.  Anyone want to buy a 1972 Grand Am?  I hear it is a special edition.

From Sunday

Miracle #3, Grandson and Sweetheart met Stacy and Chase at the Pumpkin Patch on Sunday, and a good time was had by all.  Everyone had a wonderful afternoon, as you can see by the pictures that she sent me. Looks like it will be the last nice weekend in October as the rain has arrived today and it is forecast to stay until next week.  I hope that the weatherman is wrong.

The babies. And the cows.

It was another beautiful October day.  Like, it is the 27th of October and it was sunny and 17 degrees.  Kristina comes to help me on Tuesdays, so she went to the school with Sweetheart and Tai to pick Lucas up and I stayed home with the babies.

I know that two of them are toddlers, but to me, they are my babies.  Joshua was loving the attention that these two were giving the excersaucer.  He wouldn't even look at me.  Every time I went to take a picture of his face, the toddlers would go to the other side and he would follow them around.  I love how kids just love kids, and they all learn so much, just by observing.

Miracle #3 sent me a picture of all the children at the school today while I was at home with the littles. Looks like we missed out on a good time.  I know I live in the country, but look at how close the cows were to the fence today!

Monkey bars

I am not surprised that at four years old, that Tai can do the monkey bars.  But he is very young to be able to accomplish it.  He impressed all of us, including himself by swinging his way across!

Grandson has always liked the monkey bars, and we were all so proud of Lucas for giving it a try as well. He just hung there for a minute or so, but we all encourage each other so much and he tried so hard.  The best part was that he never got discouraged and told me that he would try again tomorrow.  Monkey bars are hard to do, and I just love it when children put in an effort.

Sweet Boy

Yesterday went by way too fast.  And I actually heard this little one cry for the first time. He got two teeth last week and I am sure that he is teething.  All I had to do was pick him up and he stopped, but he didn't sleep as much as he usually does either.  We went to the playground when we picked Lucas up from school and I think it is safe to say that Baby Joshua liked it very much!

So serious.  I think it is funny that he is smiling and chatting away, but the minute I aim my camera at him, he stops.

He loved the swing.  He giggled so much, and he had me and all of the children laughing too.

So sweet!  He fell asleep while swinging.

Another gorgeous October day!

It's 2:20 on Sunday afternoon and I feel like my weekend is just starting.  I went to church this morning and listened to a great message about boundaries and barriers.  Jenelle met me there this morning, and she told me that it was just what she needed to hear today.  God is good that way, isn't he?  I enjoyed it too, and it was what I needed to hear as well. Especially after the crazy week that just flew by!

I went out on Thursday night with Corinna to watch the Canucks get beat by the Washington Capitals, Friday night Hubby and I were at the Giants game and they lost to the Seattle Thunderbirds, and then last night Hubby and I had another date night and we watched a pretty good game between the Vancouver Canucks and the Detroit Red Wings. (for the first 2 periods, anyway) Unfortunately, the outcome was another Canucks loss, but at least it was in overtime and they got a point.  I also had a First Aid course all day yesterday, and I really enjoyed spending time with my friends and learning new skills, but it was an 8 hour course.   When it rains, it pours......we never seem to do very much during the evening and I was out three nights in a row, into Vancouver each time.  And really, I was at Bible Study on Wednesday night, and yoga on Tuesday night, so that is really five nights out for me.  I actually feel not too bad, but I sure was tired last night.

These are the beautiful maple leaves that I walked by this morning on my way home from church. The sun is shining, it is 21 degrees out there this afternoon and I am enjoying my view from my front room window.  We have had a magnificent October, weather-wise. Hubby and just got back from grocery shopping and have eaten lunch. I put cabbage rolls into the oven, and we will have an early dinner before going to watch Grandson and Sweetheart take their last swimming lesson of this set.  Hubby started a big project yesterday and he cleaned out our walk-in closet in our bedroom. Needless to say, this means I have a whole bunch of clothes to sort through that I really don't feel like doing, but I had better get doing it anyway.  I had too much fun this weekend, so my bedroom and my bathrooms await. Hubby just told me he was going to go mow the lawn.  I really do think that we should have four day work weeks and three day weekends.  It would just be so much nicer for everyone!
