Sunny Friday

Friday is one of my favourite days of the week. And one of the reasons why is because I get to see this special little blessing.

Her mom texted me this picture of her dressed up for Superhero Day at school. She chose Rosie Revere Engineer because she looks up to her. Rosie is an inventor and Pretty Girl likes to invent things too.

When we walked Kara and Ethan to pre-school today, my friend asked me to come in and check out all the work that she and her group of volunteers had been doing on the nursery. Sweet Pea and I approve.

My blue-eyed blondes enjoyed waiting for Pretty Girl.
Finn peeking at me. He is so sweet.
They all had fun waiting. And playing.

A heart for missions

September is almost over!

September is almost over.....and it has gone by incredibly fast. We have found our groove, and the children have been awesome at following directions and getting to school on time.  It was really cool this morning and I have no idea why Mason came without a jacket but he survived just fine.  I worry because I think it is too cold, but he was laughing by the end of the school day when it was 22 degrees outside.

We drop Mason's backpack off in the line-up to his classroom before we head over to Lucas's classroom.

They listened pretty well this morning and we are so thankful that we have had only one rainy school day this month. I am dreading the rain when it arrives and it is going to take a bit of talent too keep all the little children dry, but they really are all old enough for boots and umbrellas. Or umbrellalalas, as Baby says.

After our snack this morning, we headed outside to get our Vitamin D fix for the day. It was a perfect day to play in the cul-de-sac!

Baby came home with us from the school and she is such an outside girl. Everyone played well together this morning.

Even Preston was more adventurous than normal. He doesn't really move very quickly and it's kind of easy to entertain him when we are outside.

After lunch, we all headed downstairs to watch Super Why and rock Baby to sleep. She really wanted to sit with her cousin and it didn't take long for her to drift off. I did end up rocking her eventually, but these two cuddled with one another for five or ten minutes. And I know that Sweet Pea looks soooooo much bigger than Baby, but it's an optical illusion. Baby is sitting in a lower section of the couch.

And this almost-3 year old fell asleep on the floor for an hour. He is adorable. Or as Sweet Pea says, "He is a gerbil." I love the way that 2 year olds talk. They all enunciate extremely well, but they do have a couple of memorable words. Baby calls a blanket a blanklet. Gosh, they make me smile.

I am blessed!

It was a very foggy morning. These boys really liked it, but Alex was a bit concerned. It was disappearing very quickly on our way to school, so that made him happy. This was around 8:15 this morning.

Miracle #3 and I were very spontaneous after MyGym this morning. We headed over the bridge to go to Krause Berry Farms. These were our five little blessings and friends after we walked through the Barley Maze.

We found all of the little stations with information about barley, and so they all received a free baseball sized pumpkin. Who thinks it is interesting that they all chose a white one except for Brennan? They were all very happy to have a little pumpkin to take home. Simple pleasures, and our outing cost us nothing but the bridge toll. We will have to go again before it is closed for the season.

A Servant's Heart

Sunday evening

The movie people insured Hubby's car for four days, so we took it to the G house tonight when we went for dinner.

Three little blessings loved exploring and playing in the back seat.

And they were ever so pleased to be all seatbelted in so they could go for a ride. We may or may not have gone for a little ride around the block like this. Oh my gosh, they were so excited!  They didn't have car seats in 1973 at all, so it was rather fun to live in the moment.

And because the trunk was the reason that they used the car at all in the movie, three little blessings climbed into the back and played around for a bit. I am sure we could have fit 10 more children in there with them. The trunk is massive!

"I bumping, Gamma, I bumping!"  And yes, she really was pumping her little legs and making the swing move back and forth. Seriously, Baby?!? You are two. Her sister just learned how to pump in the Summer and Pretty Girl mastered it in the Spring. They are five and six, which is completely age-appropriate. This little one is way too determined, and she always wants to be a "big geel."  Slow down, little one, slow down. I am just not as ready for her to grow up as she is. Sigh.

My morning out with Sam

When Samantha invited me out this morning, I was very pleased and she was very excited to be spending the morning together. She invited me to an Etsy show and she really wanted to go early so that we could get the free swag bag. She picked me up at 7:30 am and we stopped at Starbucks on the way to North Vancouver. This is Vancouver from Lonsdale Quay, just after 8 o'clock this morning.

We played tourist for a few minutes before heading over to where the Etsy Show was.

Oh, how I love Vancouver!  Even just looking over at it from the North Shore makes me happy!  It wouldn't have been a good day to be there as Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge were coming over this morning. I would have loved to see them, but I am done with the days of lining up with thousands of people to catch a glimpse. I did that in 1986 to see Princess Diana and it was not even worth it. I went with my Mom so that was fun, but all we really saw was Prince Charles's hand waving out the window of a big black car.

Sam says that she had never been to Lonsdale Quay before. The Market was pretty quiet at that time of the morning.

And we made it with plenty of time to spare, as we were around the 28th and 29th people in the line-up. We both received our swag bags with over $50 worth of free stuff from the vendors. I think my favourite item is a coconut and oat milk bath, but my little heart ring and the sunglasses are very cool as well. We both got lots of fun items and both of our bags were a little bit different.

We also received some free cookies by telling this vendor that we were short and sweet. Which we both are not short, but maybe we can be sweet. That's what made it so funny, is that it wasn't true. We were #8 and #9 out of 10 to receive this free treat. And it's only because Sam read about it online that we got free cookies. Anyway, we had the most enjoyable morning out and we think we may have to make it a once-a-month outing. It's actually quite surprising how many of these markets are scheduled throughout the Lower Mainland in the next few months. All I actually bought were some lemon bars for Hubby, and Sam bought some jewelry, lemon bars, lip balm and hair clips, so I would say that it was a wonderful successful morning out!

Happy Birthday Tai!

It's been a busy Saturday. We started our morning doing a few chores and some shopping, and then I went to get my hair done. I was disappointed when I was postponed until this week because my hairdresser was sick, but it was worth the wait. I wanted it done for my brother-in-law's birthday party but it worked out that I had it done for Tai's birthday party instead.

Tai had a critter party. The children were amazed when Dainia let the spider crawl on her. Ewwww.

And my grand-daughters and great-nephews are all braver than me. Pretty Girl wouldn't touch any of the reptiles but had no problem with the furry animals. The ferret was actual pretty cute and so was the sugar glider. Lucas, Isaac, Sweetheart, Sweet Pea and Baby touched everything that they were allowed to pet. I still say ewwwwww.

The birthday boy and his sister loved the snake. As I think you can tell by their smiles.

The children all lined up to hit the piƱata. Didn't take long before they had the candy and prizes out.

Instead of cake, there was a tray of desserts. Everyone enjoyed them. A lot!

And then the music was turned on and there was a dance party. I love this backyard as it is such a perfect place to entertain. Happy 5th Birthday Tai!  I know your official day isn't until Tuesday but we all had lots of fun celebrating with you today!

The children have enjoyed watching all of the activity that has been outside our house all week. No matter when you looked, there was always something to see. This was Isaac and Baby looking out the window on Monday.

The sun came out on Tuesday and lasted until Thursday, and there was a lot to watch on Wednesday evening. Grandson and Sweetheart came over around 5 to pick up their sister with their Mom, and they ended up staying here for dinner and watching all the happenings.

She was watching the movie people with Grandpa's car.

There is a kidnapping scene in the movie and those two cars were being filmed with people getting in and out of them.

Sweetheart liked watching but she likes posing for a picture as well. She was starting to get hungry and so we went inside to get everything ready.

Grandson and Sweetheart watched from the window while they ate their dinner. The neighbours all came out to have a look and a visit too.

And then they ate their dessert and watched some more.

Finn and Sweet Pea had lots to watch yesterday. Never a dull moment around our neighbourhood this week. Like I mentioned before, I am going to miss it!

Last day

I am going to miss all of the commotion. I loved having the film crew on the street for the past five days. They have been so kind and accommodating, and there was always something to see.  Every time I would get a chance to peek out the window, there was traffic or people running about. It really does take A LOT of people to make a movie. I love that Baby tells everyone that "They are making a movie."  And she has convinced Sweet Pea that they are finding Dory.
