Happy 7th Birthday!

Pretty Girl turned seven years old today!  She has been partying with her friends and other side of her family, as we all celebrated with her last weekend.

Seven years has gone by very quickly. She is our eldest granddaughter and I can still remember that early Friday morning phone call when she was born. I can remember heading up to the hospital just after 6 am to meet her. Even though she was born at 2:40, they all spent some time together as a family before #2 called us.

She likes to pose, and was more than happy to do that for me on Friday afternoon when I saw her.

Pretty Girl is very enthusiastic. She is strong-willed, determined, loving, smart and friendly, and we love her to the moon and back again!

She is fitting into Size 8 clothes and a Size 2 shoe. She is the only one of our blessings who I haven't weighed or measured in a while, and I am a little bit embarrassed. I will have to do that next time I see her. Because it's ball season, we all still see each other a couple of times a week, but Monday night dinner is on hiatus until late June.

DIL made a delicious cake for her birthday celebration last week and I needed to share.

It's all about the swag

I started my day at Lonsdale Quay today. Sam texted me on Tuesday to find out if I was interested in going to the Fall for Local show this weekend, and today worked better than tomorrow. She picked me up at 7:30 this morning and our first stop was Starbucks. Gosh, I love this girl!

Apparently, the barista has an Auntie Joanne too.  This is how she ordered my coffee, so this is how it came. I tried a blonde coconut mocha macchiato, and it was delicious. I'm sure that the calorie count was way too high, but I don't frequent Starbucks very often and it was definitely a treat.

We were actually the first people in line. Which has never happened before, but it ensured that we received a swag bag. This is one of the main reasons that we go......and we always have so much fun and have a wonderful visit. I hadn't seen her in a couple of months so we had lots to catch up on.

The rain held off until we headed home around noon. Grandson played ball at 4 and it wasn't raining too hard at the beginning of his game but it was coming down pretty good by the end. We have just gone to six softball/baseball games in the past six days and as long as no one is rained out, we still have five more consecutive days. It's just so fun!  Cold.  But fun! We were all joking today that when the sun and warmth does eventually show up, we will all be so surprised. I wear my winter coat to every single game. I went to a couple games at the beginning of the month without it and I learned my lesson the hard way.

Hubby and I went to the Mongolian Grill for dinner and came home to watch the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Washington Capitals. I didn't watch very much hockey in the quarter finals but the first two games of the semi-finals have been pretty good. We are pleasantly surprised that Edmonton is up 2-0 on Anaheim, and Ottawa beat the Rangers today in double overtime so they are ahead 2-0 as well. I have to cheer for my Canadian teams, and it's such great hockey!

The show

I love it when I am perusing Facebook and pictures of my blessings show up. The Showstoppers Facebook page put up 65 pictures of Saturday night's performance of The Lion King and they are all really good! The blessings were in nine pictures that I could actually see them in, so here are a few that I thought I would share.

Group shot. Unfortunately, Sweetheart is hidden by the boy sitting in front of her, but it's great of Pretty Girl.

Can you see them both in the top right corner?  I think #3 said it best when she said that Pretty Girl gives it her 150%. You can really tell how much that she loves it!

You can barely see them but they are in the second row facing each other.

Sweetheart is second from the right and she is definitely playing her part well. They were all wailing and her expression was spot on.

They are partially visible. I can see their faces but mostly just their bodies.

Sweetheart is right behind the little boy who is beside Timon. I loved Pumba in this show....she was an excellent actress.

Pretty Girl is on the far left and Sweetheart is wearing the coral coloured lei towards the center. They both had so much fun, and they were so good!

It was a magnificent performance!

Just swinging

We managed to get in some playground time this afternoon when we picked Mason up from school. My two blessings and Preston had so much fun! Mason was pushing them and they all loved it!

We had a little visitor today and Sweet Pea really liked her. It was really cute to watch her interact with an almost-one year old.

Aubrie has a big brother so she is used to being around children.  She was rather smitten with her new three year old friend as well.

"Look Grandma!  She's so cute!"  They kept each other busy for the better part of an hour.

She is a very sweet baby with an extremely mellow disposition. She's going to come to Daycare one day a week and it looks like she will fit in quite nicely.

"That was a fun show!"

Miracle #3 and SIL sent me a couple of pictures from the show last night.  It was one of those busy action-packed days.....starting with Grandson's baseball game at 9 am, a birthday party in the early afternoon, I had a dentist appointment in the late afternoon, and then The Lion King was at 7pm.

These two cousins were very excited to perform. And I think Baby said it best when she said, "That was a really fun show!"

Our two superstars performed magnificently. I have been told for years how good Showstoppers is and that they put on an amazing production. And they did.......we were all very impressed with the performance and the caliber of talent.

Birthday Celebration

We had a double birthday celebration today.....Pretty Girl turns seven on the 30th and Gracie will be five on the 25th of the month.  Auntie Pat was gracious, and she hosted a party at her house in Mission this afternoon.

This was right after the piƱata was broken and they all collected their candy. As always, it was a big hit!

A neighbour owns this lovely horse named Roxy and he brought her over for the children to give them rides. They were all so excited!

Baby has always been our animal lover.  Gracie LOVED the horse, but so did Baby. She was very happy to feed her carrots. She actually didn't have any fear at all, and was slightly cautious in giving her carrots, but it's almost scary to think how brave she is.

I think she would have ridden her all day if she was allowed. Her smile was so big!

Sweetheart enjoyed her ride as well.......she wasn't as exuberant as her sister, but she was very happy to ride.

Grandson ended up going a couple of times and he was very impressed as well.  Pretty Girl and Sweet  Pea chose not to go......they were apprehensive of the whole idea so that was okay.

As soon as she came into the driveway, she asked her Mommy, "Are we at a fahm?" And as far as she was concerned, she was.  She loved the goats too.  She really does make me smile....a lot!

Here are a couple of sneak peeks of the blessings in one of their costumes from their show this weekend.

When I asked Sweetheart what her costumes looked like, she informed me that one was "very jungley."  I am guessing that this is one that she was talking about. Aren't they simply adorable?

Dress Rehearsal

These sweet friends were very excited today. It was their dress rehearsal for their show this weekend! I am very excited looks like it is going to be so fun!

April is always a busy month. All of the blessings except Baby have birthdays in the Spring, and Easter is always in there too. Baseball and softball start, and this year we have three out of five playing.

My favourite grandson got his hair cut on the day before he turned nine. I think he is so handsome. Of course, I may be a bit biased.

He celebrated with the daycare children after school with doughnuts. This was on his actual birthday, which was April 4th.

These two three year olds are very cute. They have become quite good friends in the past few months.  It's really fun to watch friendships form and whenever they see each other they always greet one another with a hug and a smile!

Pretty Girl and Sweet Pea enjoyed their time at the river on the weekend. This is one of everyone's favourite places to go when the weather gets nice. Even though it's been cold, I am admiring DIL's stamina to get outdoors on Monday with her girls.

Pretty Girl and Sweet Pea look like they had a fun egg hunt at their Nana and Papa's yesterday. It was such a lovely day!

Happy Easter!

It's Day 3 of a really nice Easter weekend, and it looks like it is gong to to be a beautiful Spring day.  It's been cloudy with a bit of sunshine for the past couple of days, but it's been cool.

We had our Easter dinner last night and Miracle #3 took a picture of her three blessings before they came over.  I love it!

We had an egg hunt on Thursday with the daycare children, but we were missing a few. Isaac and Lucas didn't come because their Dad was off work, and Sweet Pea was at home with a fever. Baby was here because she came home with me after the library, so she thought it was very fun as well. She actually missed her egg hunt at her house because she was here, so she ended up going home and having another.
