Graduation 2017

Hubby and I were invited over for dinner to celebrate this special girl who is graduating from high school this year. I took care of Naomi and her brother from 2002 until 2006. Now she is 18 and off to SFU in the Fall to study business.

Beautiful family.  Brent is a teacher and taught #2 and #3 Science and Physics way back in the late 90's, early 2000's. He is one of those teachers that you never forget because he is so good at what he does. He actually became an engineer and then went back to university to be a teacher, and both miracles will attest to the fact that he is one of the best teachers that they ever had.

Naomi with her Grandma Su. Sometimes she would come and pick up her grandchildren way back in the day, so we got to know her too. It was so nice to see her again.

Congratulations Naomi! I am so proud of you!

She's an author!

When I went to pick up Pretty Girl from school today, she was very excited to show me her book that her class had written and illustrated.  The class received their books today and we were all very impressed.

She tells me that her friend Abigail drew the picture for the cover. It is a really nice hardcover book called "If I could fly!"

"If I could fly I would fly to a guinea pig and play with it.  I would play with its rolly ball and hug it and snuggle it. I would love it!  By: Ella"

Autographed by her whole class

Hello Summer Solstice

It was a beautiful first day of Summer!  The weather was perfect for Primary Fun Day at Grandson, Sweetheart and Lucas's school........they all had lots of fun on this cloudy warm day. There was a great cloud cover for most of the day and the sun came out around 1:30 pm. It's the first and only time that they will participate in a Primary Fun Day together because my favourite grandson heads off to Intermediate next year.

After this amazing Fun Day, Sweetheart had a dress rehearsal for her dance recital this weekend and Grandson had a baseball game. He and his team are in the playoffs and they won their second game this week.  Now they play in the playoffs on Saturday and it's looking to be a very very busy weekend!

Boys club

People are always commenting to me that I take care of a lot of boys. And they are right.....especially on a Monday. Aubrie came for a few hours today and Baby stayed for the afternoon, but from 2:20 on, these were my boys.

Finn is really acting two years old.  He's testing out his boundaries and has learned the words No and Mine really well. He is very headstrong and determined, and has decided that this little car is his. Doesn't like to share it at all, so there are good days and bad days when it comes to taking turns. He's pretty good about sharing anything that is at my house except for this car.

Lucas and Isaac were twins today. I hear that my sister is responsible for buying them their matching shirts and sweat pants. I approve.

Tai kept apologizing for having to wear his boots today. I didn't see the problem as it was pretty wet out when he got dropped off at school this morning. How were we to know that it was going to be so warm later on?

There was no way that Preston was willing to smile for a picture. He's decided that he doesn't want to nap any more so by the end of the afternoon, he's not as agreeable as he used to be. Funny little almost-2 year old.

Softball Closing Day

We started our Saturday morning at the softball field for a 9:30 am game.

First up were the Batgirls. Sweetheart really enjoyed her first season of softball, and she learned a lot. We always had a little chuckle as she spent lots of time in the field chewing on her glove. Apparently, her Daddy used to do the very same thing when he played.

She learned how to hit that ball really well off of the T. And because she played first base this morning, she got lots of catching and throwing in.  I love watching the children run the dragon race at the end of the game.....I really think it's their favourite part of the whole game.

They all received medals and they were all very pleased. There are a couple of girls missing, but the ones who were there had a great morning! Our emotional little one cried because she doesn't want softball to be over.

Showing off her softball medal! Still a bit teary-eyed.

Our second game of the morning started at 11 o'clock, with the Heat. One family was leaving as the other one was arriving, and they even played on the very same field. Pretty Girl loves playing ball, and at her level they start the season with the T but by the end they are all getting pitched to by their coach. She had two great hits today, one was right out to center field. It was a perfect day for ball as it was cloudy and warm.

Again, they are all just so excited to run the dragon race at the end of the game.

DIL coached Pretty Girl for the third year and she did great. Her assistant wasn't there today and she was missing three girls. But these guys had a super season!

Little tap dancer

Sweetheart took a jazz/tap class this year and her photo arrived today. I love how she called it her jazz, slash, tap class. She did the jazz part of the class at the beginning of the year and has been tapping since Christmas.

She had class photos last weekend and I was surprised how quickly they came back. She went for her tap exam this morning and her teacher said she did very well. These are just photos of photos so they aren't the best quality but they sure are cute!

There is one little boy missing from the group photo. She makes my heart smile!

Ants

These two little people were looking for ants today. They aren't really too hard to find, and they were having fun catching them and observing them.

All of the children are very kind to all living creatures. Even the ants get treated kindly. They have all been taught that we are only allowed to step on them and kill them if they are in the house. If they are outside, then we try to be gentle. Sweet Pea was really interested in the tiny little sand ants.

Here she is, showing me the ant in her hand. Yes, I am very aware that I cannot see the ant. But she can, and while I snapped the picture, that was what was important to her

So we tried again, but she really didn't want to take her focus off of the ant. Trying so hard to look at me, but she really just wanted to watch the ant.

Take 3!  Oh, I love her to the moon and back again!

Rocks

When we dropped Lucas off at school this morning, these boys decided to play in the rocks. They love them. After Lucas went into his class, I am sure we could have spent all morning there. Looking. Counting. Collecting. Repeat.

The last few days

It was so so so so hot on Wednesday and it took some convincing on these boys' part for me to take them outside at the end of the day.

I'm glad that I did as they really enjoyed their play time. They rode their bikes and scooters until their parents came to pick them up. Little Lukas watched them from the ride-on car.

He wore his sunglasses all day long. Two year olds are funny.

It rained all day yesterday, which was very refreshing. But it made us all happy to get out for a walk this morning because it was so nice. We didn't find any horses or ducks but the children watched a northern flicker on a telephone pole for a bit. And we we heard a braying donkey and the horses in the barn, but we couldn't see any of them.

This is just before we went to pick up Pretty Girl from school. There was a revolving door of children today. These are my blonde blue-eyed beauties.

Anticipation

The group activity at MyGym was a lot of fun this morning.  But then again, it always is. A lot of fun, that is. They have done this before and the children love it!  It's called "The Big Breeze."

Here they are.  Waiting and anticipating for what's to come. Do you see all of the scarves in front of the children?

The big foam block comes down in front of them and blows them up and over and into their faces.

And they just love it!!! I know that you can only see a few of their expressions, but I think you can tell how happy and excited that they are.

I think that they did it a half a dozen times or so. And it never gets old. The children are more than happy to help pick up the scarves and lay them out in front of them again.

It's so fun to listen to them giggle and squeal in anticipation of what's to come.

It was another successful Wednesday morning at MyGym. We all love it so much!!

It's National Doughnut Day!

But first, sleep. Finn and Shay both slept for just over an hour, but at 1:55 (just before we had to leave to go pick up her sister at school) Sweet Pea crawled up on my lap and fell asleep.

I probably should have just taken her and put her into her seat in the van, but I went to get her sleeping friends before I took her down and strapped her in. The pic of Finn was actually taken previous to the others falling asleep as we had a pre-school drop off to make at 12:30. Then we went into town to pick up Mila and Fara from their pre-school, only to learn that they had gone home early because Mila had a fever. I was very grateful to their teacher who saw me park and came out to tell me that they weren't there. Before I unbuckled anyone. I would have been more grateful if I had known before that but I guess there was some miscommunication on their parents end. Such is life and I was called with a very big apology just before 2. Stuff happens. And when Finn fell asleep on the way home, he just looked so precious.

We went to get doughnuts at Tim Hortons. I even parked and took them in just so they could pick whichever one they wanted.

Who thinks it's funny that they all picked exactly the same kind?  Pretty Girl chose a vanilla dip and the others followed suit.

Needless to say, these two cousins were extremely impressed. Like, I really don't think that Finn could believe his eyes.

.
These two blessings were very happy too.  Sweet Pea just licked all the icing off, but the other three children ate every last bite of theirs. Pretty Girl told me that she had already had a doughnut at school with her hot lunch, and when #2 picked up his girls, he told me he had doughnuts in the car. Happy National Doughnut Day!!
