Hurry up and wait

I feel like a huge part of my January was taken up by appointments. And there were quite a few at Royal Columbian Hospital. My core biopsy was on January 3rd at 7:30 am. And so I figured it would take close to an hour to get there in rush hour traffic and I miscalculated.  It took exactly 35 minutes, and I found a parking spot right away. So I waited.

This is a common area near where my appointment was scheduled so I sat for a bit. It felt like I was there for a long time, but I think it was for about 20 minutes.

I waited outside this door from 7:25 until the door opened at 7:37.  I was early, but the staff was late.

I find that when I am waiting and bored that I take pictures. And I was a little bit annoyed that everyone was late. I hate late. I always have and I always will.

I have been in this office before but I couldn't remember when. The kind receptionist looked it up when I asked, and it was April of 2014. I was there for an ultrasound and a digital mammogram and it turned out to be nothing. I often wonder if that was the start of something and it was inconclusive at that time. My oncologist was going to look into that for me, as I'm sure that it was something.

This is the room you wait in once you get changed into two hospital gowns while waiting for my biopsy. I was the only one here on this particular morning......maybe that's why everyone was late. Probably not a whole lot of appointments going on but it was still Christmas vacation for a lot of people. My biopsy took about 45 minutes and the Lori the sonographer was really good at her job. She was very calming and explained everything that the radiologist was going to do. He gave me local freezing and he was also very good at his job. It sounded like a staple gun and it didn't hurt at all. The huge bruise that I got was normal and lasted for over a week, it hurt a bit but nothing that I couldn't handle. I left here feeling like everything was under control, and it was nothing. Boy, was I ever wrong!!!
